Conservative Truth
Dr. Tom Barrett
On Saturday, July 22, President Donald Trump commissioned the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier. In his speech, he said, “I love our military!” to which the assembled seamen and their families responded with wild applause and cheers.

Do you remember when Obama, said, “I love our military”? Neither do I, because he never said it. I searched diligently for an Obama quote where he even expressed appreciation for our military, but to no avail. The closest I found was when he said he would take care of our veterans (something he failed to do).

At the root of every concern relating to the effects of human-caused-climate-change is the single proposition that changes in atmospheric carbon dioxide are a powerful force sufficient to drive potentially catastrophic changes in global climate. Oddly, there is little evident interest in validating that proposition. Virtually all human-caused-climate-change research is dedicated to projecting future climate on the basis of a proposition that has had very little scrutiny. More...
Do we need two new political parties in the US.
Ric Wasley
Many years ago when I was young, and dumb, and idealistic (as opposed to now when I am old, and dumb and cynical), I began my political affiliation as a Democrat.

Later, when I had gotten a decent job, was starting a family and paying taxes, I changed to Republican. Then eight years ago, roundly disgusted with both major political parties I switched again to Independent for voting purposes in primaries.

The problem is, there is no “Independent” political candidate to vote for. So once again I am forced to chose between which do-nothing, self-serving professional politician, interested only in lining his or her pockets, to ensconce in office, most likely for life.

Kinda’ makes you think that Mark Twain had it right when he said; “I don't vote for politicians, it only encourages them."  More...

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell unveiled yet another revision of the GOP’s fraught repeal-and-replace [R & R] legislation, and the controversial bill will either find the 50 Republican votes it needs to pass the upper chamber of Congress in the next few days — or it will perish once and for all,” Yahoo News wrote.

Despite Yahoo News being about as leftist as a “news site” can be, they in fact are right, perhaps regarding both claims. The latest iteration of R & R bills is fraught, as have been everyone since this current legislature gaveled in. Watching the pathetic spectacle has certainly caused me a great deal of stress and anxiety. Nothing they’ve offered comes close to the clean repeal they promised.

The public doesn’t understand what single-payer truly is. They couldn’t. Just as with many other life experiences, single-payer, top to bottom run government healthcare must be experienced first-hand, apparently, in order for many to discover just how bad it is.

We, who have done our homework, can describe the nightmare of single-payer until we’re blue in the face and it won’t matter a bit to the less informed. And until just recently, we’ve had only second and third hand anecdotes to quote as proof of single-payer failures.

Here's a story with a point I think you will enjoy.

Early in their marriage, my Dad did something very stupid. My Mom chewed him out for it. He apologized and they made up. However, from time to time, my Mom would bring up what he had done.

"Honey," my Dad finally said one day, "why do you keep bringing that up? I thought your policy was to forgive and forget." "It is," she said. "I just don't want you to forget what I've forgiven and forgotten." Nice!

What does it mean when we right-wingers describe ourselves as 'conservatives'? What is it that we are trying so hard to save, preserve or prevent the loss of - which is what 'conserve' means. Those on the left would say we wish to conserve the days of slavery and Jim Crow - or maybe the white-old days of the 1950s before the Civil Rights movement.

Despite the fact that all those bad times were born of the left in this country, we conservatives wish to reestablish and conserve America’s original set of governing rules. More...

All informed people know that hate crime legislation is a tragic reality in Canada, Europe, and Muslim nations but who would have thought it in America?

Furthermore, Europe has been pursuing the persecution of thought crimes for many years.
