A letter from Kosovo

Dear Family and Friends,

It is with a heart so heavy that we write this. As we watch the news we grieve with America for the lives lost, dreams cut short, words that will never be spoken, ears that will no longer have the opportunity to hear the truth. We grieve with the families and friends. As we are sure you do, we continue to pray that God will take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it for His Glory. (Rom. 8:28).

In contrast to the TV shots of those dancing in the streets, we wanted to share what we have experienced in this Muslim country of Kosova. Since the first reports began to hit the TV here we have had many phone calls from our Kosovar friends expressing their sympathy. We were told yesterday that there was going to be a protest in Mother Teresa Park (center of
town) and we were invited to attend. Not knowing exactly what to expect (there are some radical Muslim factions here), we left the younger children at home and Jeff, Adam and I went. The scene made me weep.

As we began walking toward the park, it became apparent that this was no small demonstration! There were thousands of people gathered. The schools had emptied out by classrooms and were marching through the streets carrying about 20 American Flags. Businesses had closed to participate in support of America. Some of the radio stations had declared a day of silence (no music or talk shows) to mourn the loss. In the entrance to the park a huge American Flag was hung and below it hundreds of candles were lit as a memorial to those that had died. Many Muslim friends and strangers stopped us, and with tears in their eyes expressed their sorrow.

One of the village chiefs told us, when he heard that America was at war, that they were ready to fight along side America! We have heard reports that it was the same in every city, town and large village across Kosova!

As we continue to pray for the families and friends of the victims, let's remember, also, to pray for the Muslim people all over the world. Many innocent Muslims may now suffer persecution because of the actions of a few terrorists. It is time to get our eyes on our Great and Faithful God and His promises and off the "giants in the land"! People are hurting and wondering and hopeless! Let's be people full of courage and give them the Hope and Truth that they are seeking...at the grocery store, gas
station, restaurant, etc. We have the answers to their questions..."For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!" Romans 10:13-15 YOU are the one!

We are Ever in His Peace! Linda and Jeff McMob
