We are inundated with public service announcements for animal rights groups with pictures of starving dogs in need of a rescue. Pet lovers respond with their donations, sometimes in exchange for a T-shirt. But images or pictures of aborted babies are taboo.  

Genuine faith is more than thinking something is true. Genuine faith is thinking something is true to the extent that we act on it. Acting on it takes courage. How will you be courageous this year? If it scares you, you should look at it twice and ask, “If I do this thing, will it make me larger and our community better?” If the answer is yes, do it. Remember, growth is stepping over what you used to trip on.  

The optics tell the story; imagine it all on a split screen. The appearance of impropriety and the manner people behave, even during a solemn occasion. What occurred in New York on Thursday, March 28 reveals just how deeply divided we are, politically, emotionally, and philosophically. On the one hand, we have a bunch of demagogues and ideological Leftists celebrating and gathering together for what they believe is important, the almighty dollar. On the other hand, less than forty miles away, thousands of men, women and children were mourning the loss of a fallen hero.  

Republicans are now acting like Democrats as they sacrifice the lives of the innocent unborn in a desperate appeal for votes from feminist soccer moms who regard a “fetus” as an inconvenience. Meanwhile, Melania Trump is raising money for the “gay” Republican group, the Log Cabin Republicans, in an event scheduled for Trump’s home Mar-a-Lago. “Make America Great Again” is becoming a Republican recipe for continued moral decline and destruction.  

The disrespect of the national anthem is nothing new; however, it intensified in 2016 when the antics of NFL Quarterback Colin Kaepernick were noticed by the media. He made headlines for sitting, then kneeling, as the national anthem was performed. Now that Kaepernick is no longer an active player, athletes at all levels, collegiate and professional, should return to paying respects to the country that has given them so much fame, fortune, and opportunity. Standing in attention for “The Star-Spangled Banner” is not a major sacrifice. It should be incorporated into the pregame preparations for every team. In fact, respecting our country’s symbols and traditions should be the most important pregame preparation for any athlete.  

I like to call myself a “pracademic.” What is a pracademic? It’s someone who is educated yet practical in how they apply their education. As a pracademic, I can generally identify other pracademics. I look for quotes and thoughts from pracademics because their ideas show the 'what, why, and how' of solving real-life issues. So, here we go into real-life pracademic land.  

It seems that we are being inundated with the latest and greatest buzzword phrase, “Artificial Intelligence,” or AI for short. Just about everyone has heard the wildly fantastic claims about the abilities of Artificial Intelligence.
