Doofus of the Day Award
June 21, 2002
by Steven Plaut
We are considering introducing a "Doofus of the Day"
award, for the stupidest idea to come out of the mout or crayon
of any Jew on any particular day. And for today’s award we nominate...
(drumroll)... historian Howard M. Sachar. Yes the one and the
same, the guy who wrote all those nice books about Jewish history
from his nice safe hiding place on M Street NW, at George Washington
University.
Sachar gets the award thanks to his silly little Op-Ed in the
Jerusalem Post June 20, 2002 entitled "Peace Must Be Imposed."
In recent months, Jewish leftists have been getting desperate,
now that almost no one outside the Labor Party and the Israeli
universities any longer supports Oslo suicide and leftist peace
paganism. Hence their latest brainstorm is to call on the US
and the other world powers to "impose a solution"
on the Middle East.
Now let us be clear about this. Calls to "impose a solution"
are essentially nothing more than calls for the complete negation
of Israeli sovereignty. These are people who want Israelis to
lose the power to govern themselves and select their own government
and their own national policies. Jews who issue calls for "imposing
solutions" are in fact calling for the reversal of Israeli
independence and statehood.
And just guess what kind of settlement exactly the peace-loving
compassionate world powers would impose on the Middle East.
The last time the great powers of the world imposed a solution
on the Jews, it cost six million lives.
The EU has now officially taken action against terrorism ...
by adding to its official list of terrorist organizations the
Kahane Chai organization. Kahane Chai is a splinter left over
from the old JDL-Kach movement of Rabbi Meir Kahane, who was
murdered by an Arab terrorist in New York. The EU is in fact
simply following in the McCarthyist pawprints already laid down
in the mud by Israel’s own anti-democratic governments of the
Labor Party and the Likud, which declared the Kahanist groups
as "terrorists" and illegal racist organizations and
banned them and denied them free speech. The US has also hopped
on this McCarthyist anti-democratic bandwagon, which is a bit
amusing since Kahanist groups operate legally in the United
States and are protected by the First Amendment.
Now what should we make of all this? After all, Kahane Chai
has never killed anyone at all. The most violent it has ever
gotten was exchanging a few punches with the bodyguard of Ahmed
Tibi, a man very much in need of some fisticuffs. I would not
go so far as to say that the Kahane Chai people have never broken
any law, but I would also not go so far as to say that I have
never broken any law.
So what should be done about this wave of international McCarthyism?
Simple.
All we have to do is to declare that the EU is a terrorist
organization. Actually, it IS!! After all, unlike the Kahanist
fringe, the EU does in fact support terrorism - in lots of ways.
It just this week approved ponying up some more wampum for Arafat
and his stormtroopers, since the EU has determined that the
PLO is not involved in any terrorism, unlike the Kahanists.
So send off a fax or email to the US Senate today. Let’s get
them to declare the EU an international terrorist organization.
While we are at it, maybe we can get them to add CNN, Meretz,
Ben Gurion University, and all the other obvious terrorist institutions.
