Radical Realignments

Under the bubbling caldron of current events, an historic realignment is taking place within the political parties - one that could have far-reaching implications for the 2002 elections and beyond. The Democrats’ thirty year flirtation with the far Left may have caused another longtime dancing partner to finally take a pass.

The Democrats have morphed, since the 1960s, into a party aligned with radical causes alien to mainstream traditional American ideals. Since much of American heritage and law is based on Judeo-Christian tenets, the opposition is also usually reliably anti-religious - or at least anti-Judeo-Christian religion - if you’re a Wiccan or a Hare Krishna, you’ll fit right in.

A quick examination of key Democratic core groups supports this theory. Man-hating radical feminists, whose fanatical devotion to any-abortion-on-demand recalls nothing so much as the ancient Canaanite’s practice of child sacrifice. The militantly gay “Lavender Lobby”, which demands not just tolerance, but a complete mainstreamed acceptance of practices most religious people consider both deviant and sinful. The tree-spiking EcoFreaks - today’s twentieth century pagans - who just worship Mother Earth instead of Baal.

The Leftist War on the West and it’s Judeo-Christian traditions has, until recently, been satisfied with a full bore assault on Christianity. Films, books, “art” and newspaper columns have bristled with hostility towards the Christian faith and worldview. Now, the radical Left has embraced Yasser Arafat and his terrorist chums - adding them to their long and dreary “Approved Brutal Dictators and Marxist Thugs List”. Now, American Jews are faced with a plight similar to that of their Christian brethren.

In the 1980’s, a growing number of Christian evangelicals fled the Democratic Party in droves, propelled by their aversion to the increasingly Left-wing and atheistic tilt of the DemoRat agenda. Jews, however, remained primarily Democrats, although some of the more Orthodox among them also left. Interestingly enough, this same era saw a rise in Christian-Jewish relations, as Christian leaders began to focus on the Jewish heritage of Jesus Christ. Today, Jews are finding that some of the biggest support for Israel comes from the evangelical and conservative communities.

This puts the DNC in an unenviable quandary. Their party has increasingly been dominated by former radical activists like Hillary Clinton - the same Hillary Clinton who actually kissed Suha Arafat right after the latter finished a speech accusing “the Jews” of murdering Palestinian children. To these folks, denouncing Israel as “imperialist invaders” fits right in with the same twisted logic that causes them to embrace Fidel Castro as a “liberator”.

The anti-American, anti-Israel rhetoric which permeated the pro-Palestinian rally held on 20 April is sure to resonate big with this ex-and-wanna-be hippie crowd, but it is alienating even moderate and secular Jewish voters. After the Passover massacre, Jews, a longtime Democratic voting bloc, are finally fed up. Tired of being snubbed, they are leaving the ball.

A radical realignment is taking shape - one in which the Republican party will be eventually comprised of people who adhere to and believe in traditional Judeo-Christian, Western and American values - and the Democratic party will be comprised of those who don’t. It will be interesting to see how much support the radical agenda actually has in mainstream America - or with the burly hard-hat union workers who comprise yet another big Democratic voting bloc.

A hearty “welcome home” to our Jewish friends and pro-Israel allies. May we have the honor of the next dance?
