Israel’s Two Biblical Crises

  1. In the Bible, the Israelites must pass through two major episodes of folly before their liberation and conquest of their lands. These two episodes or detours into folly are the Crisis of the Left and the Crisis of the Right.

The Crisis of the Left is the attempt to resolve their problems through stupidity and treason. The Israelites submit to the paganist temptation. They build a Golden Calf. The Crisis of the Right is the attempt to resolve their problems through cowardice and incompetence. Moses sends out men to scout the Promised Land; they return with fairy tales about giants and destroy the morale and courage of the people. They formed the party of defeatism.

Few will doubt that the Israelites of today have been forced to confront essentially the same two follies and pitfalls. The Crisis of the Left was when the Rabin-Peres Junta and the rest of the Left forced the people to bow down to a Golden Calf of political correctness and leftist insanity. (Interestingly, in gematria Oslo equals Calf.) The Golden Calf of Oslo was based on the denial of the Jewishness of the state and the people, the abandonment of Jewish content and identity for flaky trendiness and feel-good PC posturing.

After the Folly of the Golden Calf came the crisis of confidence from the cowardice of the Right. It began when Bibi Netanyahu was elected and emerged as the Wye’s Man of Chelm. He courted Arafat, handed Hebron to the PLO, signed Wye, behaved as a coward in the Tunnel pogroms, and pursued Oslo Lite. (All of which are matters apparently forgotten by those on the Israeli Right desperately hoping that if Netanyahu kicks out Sharon and takes the Likud chiefdom, things might be different.)

Then came the National Hen, Ariel Sharon, who once again heads a Likud government of cowardice and defeatism. And like the scouts sent out by Moses, he thinks that nothing works like a good bout of cowardice or misleading the people about how there is just no military solution.

Every single appeasement by the governments of Israel has produced escalated PLO violence and nazi atrocities, not to mention escalating anti-Semitism throughout the entire world. Such appeasements have also created nazification of Israel’s own Arabs. In the Galilee yesterday, thousands of Israeli Arabs took to the streets of the town of Sakhnin to show their solidarity with the PLO suicide bombers and murderers of Jewish babies in Jerusalem and Netanya. They waved rifles, chanted Death to the Jews, and wore Bin Laden masks to show where they stand.

The Nuremberg Rally in Sakhnin, not by West Bank Palestinians but by Israel’s own Arab Fifth Column, was but one of many responses to the latest wave of cowardice by Israel’s National Hen. For months Sharon had insisted that the Palestinians must maintain seven full days of complete tranquility before he would engage in any talks with the PLO at all. As you know, this seven day tranquility period was denounced in this corner as absurd; why seven days when 70 years would be a far more logical choice? Moreover, Sharon refused to charge interest and INCREASE the seven day number when the PLO launched atrocities week after week.

But over the weekend, Sharon decided to try one more appeasement. He announced that Israel was abandoning the seven day prerequisite and was now prepared to meet with and hobnob with the murderers of Jewish babies even while they continue to murder those babies.

The response to this cowardice came last night. The PLO responded to the latest proof that the Jews are on the run and that Sharon is unwilling to deal with the terror nor to defend Jewish babies. It launched nazi atrocities in Jerusalem and Netanya, no doubt to the cheers of the Nuremberg marchers from Sakhnin and the Tenured Reds at Israel’s universities. And so, once again, as if any further proof were needed, Israel managed to prove that appeasements and cowardice produce nazification and atrocities. Proving Ecclesiastes is correct. Apparently Sharon is intent on taking Israel through the entire set of books of the Bible, everything except the Scroll of Esther and the Book of Joshua.

And the result of these appeasements is that Bush can now send Zinni back to make trouble, the same Zinni who - last trip - told the Israel’s to stop bitching about their children being murdered by the PLO since, after all, every large American city experiences thousands of shooting incidents.

And besides, there is no military solution to terror unless it is directed against the United States.

Zinni will get Sharon and the Man with the Pubic Hair on his Face to sign some sort of ceasefire agreement and then head back to Washington with beams of light coming from his face. But we all know that a ceasefire is simply a time when the Jews are prevented from shooting back. Like all the previous ones, this ceasefire will be hailed by the Left as a new Golden Calf, and all the while the PLO will murder more Jews while Israel exercises cowardly restraint.

  2. There are many theories about the National Hen, but my own theory is that Sharon is far more concerned about blocking Bibi Netanyahu than he is about preventing murders of Jewish babies. When the current wave of atrocities began last year, why did Sharon not call new Knesset elections? Why did he prefer to sit in a cabinet dominated by the very Labor Party imbeciles who imported the murderers into Israeli cities in the first place?

After all, in any election in the midst of these atrocities, all the Likud would have to do would be to broadcast speeches by Rabin, Peres and Beilin about how Oslo would bring peace and how the danger of terrorism was smaller than the danger of infiltration of cable television into Israeli homes. Labor would have contracted to its natural dimensions of 5-10 Knesset seats, and Meretz would lose half its strength.

Yes the Left is bleating about how all the atrocities are Sharon’s fault for daring to shoot some terrorists, but let it run on such a platform for election and let’s see what the public thinks!

Sharon refused to do so. He refused to keep the Labor party lemmings out of his cabinet despite their having been trounced by the voters. He pledged to bring security to the country in a cabinet dominated by those who had single-mindedly destroyed any vestige of security with their infantile delusions about a New Middle East, people whose megastupidity turned Israel into the Valley of the Shadow of Death.

    Why?

Because holding elections would force Sharon to compete against Bibi for Likud party head in primaries. And Sharon fears Bibi more than Arafat. He hates Bibi more than he hates the PLO. It is more important in his view to block Bibi than to take real action against the murderers of Jewish babies.

Indeed it is so important that he is even willing to appease Shimon Peres by abandoning his demand for a seven day period of tranquility before renewing appeasement talks with the PLO.

  3. Why us? We are the beautiful people! We are secularist leftists, the people of compassion, the academic people of caring. We eat bacon and shrimp. We sit in our cafes on Friday evenings and debate the latest shows in the London Theater district. We are ever so sophisticated.

Moreover, we are the ones who brought Ehud Barak to power. We hate the settlers and demand the settlements be removed. We are moderate and want to give them a state. We are educated and worldly. We wish the Palestinians no harm. We try to understand them. We feel for their suffering.

We are not THOSE people. Sure, we understand when the Palestinians murder the settlers. After all, they are occupying Palestinian lands, not like us. We are not like them. They are fanatics and racists. We are progressives. Humans citizens of the world.

And yes, we understood when they attacked a group of primitive Orthodox reactionaries in northern Jerusalem. After all, those people are backward and racist. This is the only language they understand.

But we were certain the Palestinians wish us no harm. After all, we are helping them achieve liberation. We want the occupation to end as quickly as they.

We are the good Israelis. The caring Israelis.

And that is why we do not understand.

Why oh why would they blow up our cafe in the yuppie secular neighborhood in Jerusalem Saturday night? Who were we hurting? Who were we occupying? We were just discussing theater and films and good books. We were being progressive and cosmopolitan. They must have made a mistake.

We are the good people. The decent people.
    We initiated Oslo.
Why us? We do not understand.

  4. At long last the Hebrew Palestinian newspaper Haaretz (better known as Al-Ard) is showing its true agenda. In the cartoon on its editorial page today (Mar 10) it shows a nasty religious Jew glaring in hate eye to eye with an angry Arab, and the caption reads "Where there is No God there are No Atrocities".

Got that? It is now official. There is violence in the Middle East because there are primitive Jews who believe in God and some actually practice Judaism.

Now we have argued for years that Haaretz and the rest of the anti-Jewish Israeli Left seek to destroy any vestige of Jewishness in Israel or among Israelis because such Jewishness is reactionary and causes Jews to defend themselves against Arab nazis and build settlements. Haaretz belongs to the Canaanite genre of Israelis seeking to detach Israeliness from Jewishness.

If only the Jews will stop practicing Judaism and believing in God, we will all be safe. Unless we go to trendy yuppie cafes, that is.

  5. The latest target for leftist McCarthyism in Israel is Rabbi Israel Rosen. He is learned and well known in religious circles and writes weekly commentaries in leaflets about the Torah portion distributed in synagogues. He was been targeted before by Labor Party McCarthyists demanding he be prosecuted for "incitement" a word that in Israel means expressing opinions with which Yossi Beilin disagrees.

Today Haaretz - Al Ard targets him for calling for Jews to use terror against Palestinians. Now as it turns out, I myself read his column and he did not call for Jews to use terror, although he does call for Jews to use military force and for the government to start defending Jews with the army.

(In small print, Haaretz claims he merely issued the call for counter-terror in conversation with no witnesses, he did not WRITE it.)

But Haaretz is determined to prevent all acts of Jewish self-defense, even if this involves prosecuting Rabbis for saying Jews should use force to defend themselves against the PLO Nazis with whom Haaretz-Al Ard so closely identifies.

Haaretz believes in human rights, except for Jews, and especially opposes the human rights of Jews to drink coffee without being murdered.
