The Sheriff Cries Uncle!
(and other items of current interest)

  1. Well, the uncharacteristic display of backbone by the Israeli government ended less than 24 hours after it began. Israeli tanks had moved into the Gaza strip in response to the PLO shooting mortar shells at the town of Sderot, which is INSIDE pre-1967 Green Line Israel. All day long the American State Department under Colin Powell was growling that Israel’s response was "disproportional and excessive", but never quite spelled out what would it would consider to be a proper proportional response to people shooting mortar shells into Kennebunkport Maine.

The IDF takes up its positions, bombs a few PLO buildings, and no sooner does an IDF spokesperson announce that Israel plans to stay put in these positions for months and perhaps for years when the State Department and Powell issue a Don Corleone proclamation, and Israel gets an offer it cannot refuse. In the evening the troops and tanks withdraw, proving once again to the PLO that it can shoot mortar shells at Israeli civilians with impunity, for the US will not acountenance Israel engaging in any form of self-defense that is not based upon capitulation and appeasement. The PLO took the point and this morning spent the daylight hours responding to the US extortion of Israel by again shooting mortar shells into Jewish civilian areas. The point has been made quite clearly. Israel must commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day by acknowledging the fact that it is being prohibited from stopping mortar shelling of civilians by those pledged to perpetrating a Second Holocaust.

And what exactly was the roll of Shimon Peres in all of this? Well, it is not clear. We know Peres voted in the cabinet, together with Efraim Sneh, AGAINST any military response to the PLO shelling of Sderot, this because the "timing was not right". And when exactly do Peres and Sneh think the timing would be right? Well, they did not say, but apparently it has something to do with a messiah first appearing on earth or nova of the sun, whichever comes second. Was Peres coordinating the State department’s assault on Israeli policy, designed to force the Sharon government elected by the Israeli voters to follow the policies dictated by Shimon Peres, the policies the Israeli electorate rejected by a landslide? How come it never occurred to Sheriff Lobo that such things would result from his appointing Shimon Peres as his Foreign Minister? The Peres policies have included the arming of the PLO in the Gaza Strip and West Bank in the first place, and will enter history books as the very stupidest set of follies in human history. SO how could Sharon turn him down?

Arik Sharon, like Bibi Netanyahu, has just proven himself all bark and very little bite. He is afraid to face down Powell, the dark-skinned male Madge Albright, the McClellenist general leftover from the first Bush, the Republican answer to affirmative action. If Sharon is afraid to respond to mortar shelling of Sderot and other civilian areas, then he is clearly giving a green light to the PLO for endless new atrocities. Sharon is trying to tell the press that sending tanks into Gaza for a few hours where they did nothing and then pulling them out a few hours later will REALLY REALLY teach those PLO fascists a lesson they will never forget!! And in a sense, he is correct, but not in the way he thinks.

Sharon’s response to daily PLO mortar shelling of Jewish civilians is to send repeatedly his son, the Kojak-cloned Omri, to beg Arafat for a deal.

The Israeli Left of course is overjoyed that Sharon has been forced to cry Uncle to Uncle Remus in the State Department. It of course is devoted to Israel commemorating the Holocaust, well, by making a second one. Stalinist feminazi journalist Amira Hess devotes space in Haaretz today to singing the praises of the heroic courageous Palestinians who show not a smidgen of fear in suffering the Israeli missile retaliation in Gaza. The Stalinist-fascist Arab Knesset Members are all out cheering on the attacks on the Jews, with impunity, and one of them - Daroushe - sent a telegram to Syria cheering it on and denouncing the Israeli wimpish raid on the Syrian radar station in Occupied Lebanon. A new cable-TV show starring the great comedian Eli Yatzpen just opened. Yatzpen courageously called for slapping Daroushe and otherwise dealing with the nazified Arab leaders, so you can rest assured his program will be pulled pretty soon.

Sderot is one of the poorest and lowest-socioeconomic level towns in Israel. It is filled with low-skill and low-education Moroccan-born Sephardic Jews. In other words, it is exactly the sort of town that the elitist Ashkenazi leftists of the chattering class care nothing about. After all, the PLO is not shelling Ramat Aviv! So why should they rethink their belief in pursuing peace through capitulation and appeasement?

The General Security Services (Shin Bet) this week proclaimed that they have learned that Arafat’s praetorian guards are engaged in terrorism, and we expect that one of these months it will also discover that there exists a sea route to the Indies.

Meanwhile, the Leftist hegemony over the Israeli media is about to be expanded. The government is about to allow a third Israeli TV channel (on cable there are lots of non-Israeli channels also) to operate, a sort of Israeli CNN, a 24 hour news station. And guess who the kingpin of this new channel will be! Give up? Why, Moti Kirschenbaum of course. Kirschenbaum is a leftwing fascist who served as broadcasting czar for countless years at state-owned Channel One. He is best remembered for being filmed proclaiming that no non-leftist points of view will be allowed on Channel One, and he played a role in the New Journalist episode involving the Baron-Deri "affair". He and a consortium he organized have a 16 year mandate from the new Sharon government to create media pluralism in Israel.
