"Beneath the Surface"

Protecting Our Little Ones

In what is a stunning victory for families of young children everywhere, a Massachusetts court awarded a $328 million judgement on behalf of the family of a ten-year old boy who was kidnapped by a couple of pedophiles and brutally sodomized and murdered.

In October 1997, during the murder trial of Salvatore Sicari and Charles Jaynes, the prosecution showed that the perps were sexually obsessed with Jeffrey Curley. Jeffrey was lured away from his neighborhood on the promise of "a new bike". When Jeffrey resisted their sexual advances, he was smothered with a rag soaked in gasoline. His body was then stuffed in a Rubbermaid container and thrown in a river.

One needs to tip their hats off to the Curley family. Though they will in all likelihood never see the judgement, they have sent a message to pedophiles that they can be held civilly liable for damages resulting from their conduct in addition to whatever criminal penalties the law can and will dish out. In addition, the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) is also on the receiving end of a nine-figure lawsuit for their role in a couple of murders of young boys by pedophiles.

In addition to NAMBLA, their Internet service provider was also named. A check by the ISP found that they were not the ISP at the time the murders took place, yet to avoid being dragged into someone else’s headache, they terminated NAMBLA as a client and NAMBLA lost their website. If memory serves, the original ISP is still on the hook in the lawsuit.

What is being brought into place here is the fact that all our freedoms have a limit. While I generally oppose censorship, there is a line that must be drawn - and that line is when the behavior that is suggested or encouraged involves violating the law and preying on innocent victims. This is even more so when those affected the most are least able to defend or protect themselves, and that means our children.

Meanwhile, in San Diego, 33-year old Glenn Jordan, a former Boy Scout staff administrator, is facing (coincidentally) 33 counts of sexual molestation. These incidents are alleged to have taken place over three years. And there are those who are still pushing to have the Boy Scouts admit gays, despite the 4-3 Supreme Court ruling that allows the Boy Scouts - a private organization, I might add - to choose what criteria by which they will admit their members. They are a private organization and any funds they receive are donations and not federal or state funding. And the last I checked, sexual orientation was not part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The extremely mouthy, highly vocal minority in the gay community wants it either their way or no way at all. When it comes to party crashers, they are petty thugs of the first order. They force themselves time and again where they are neither wanted or welcome. The Supreme Court was right to allow the Boy Scouts to ban homosexuals from adult leadership positions. Just as there are those organizations that appeal to a gay-only clientele, there are organizations with which homosexuality or lesbianism is totally and wholly incompatible. The gay community needs to recognize this with Scouting and just leave them alone.

When it comes to pedophiles, the overwhelming majority are males, and white males at that. Most of their victims are little boys and the very act of a male adult sexually abusing a male child makes that pedophile a homosexual, despite what the gay community would have us believe. And it is people like that, which make NAMBLA a menace that must be destroyed in the name of public safety at all costs.

Many of you will probably remember the murder of Italian designer Gianni Versace outside his Miami home in 1997. When suspected killer Andrew Canaan was identified as a homosexual, the gay community got their knickers in a royal knot. They got even more bent out of shape when Canaan made the FBI Top Ten Most Wanted List, where he remained until his body was found on a houseboat - the cause of death being a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Most gay people want to go about their business and be left alone. With the increasing racket being made by more militant members of the gay community and "right-to-expression" groups, there are those who would seek to destroy any degree of difference or diversity in our society. We must not conform to just one degree of thinking as that is the mark of a totalitarian regime, much like Cuba, Communist China or the Soviet Union.

One of our most cherished freedoms is contained in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which allows for the freedom of speech, religion and the press. It is also one of the most misused and twisted as it is perverted by one group to denigrate another. Such action only smacks of intolerance and bigotry.

But then, what else do you expect from the media elite and special interest groups?
