The Hypocrisy Of Modern Day Feminism

Feminism is an interesting thing. In their effort to make up for "past historical wrongs", they were big backers of affirmative action, which in effect, made the white man pay for the high crime of being born white and male. Over time, feminists (among others) have been able to twist the laws of the land to stack the deck prohibitively in their favor, with no foundation of law for them on which to base their justification. One need not look back very far to see how far out of hand this has gotten. As for the judges making these decisions… well, that’s another column for another time.

Case (among many) in point: When there was a sex scandal at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland a few years ago, a number of Army NCO’s were court-martialed for sexual misconduct. Sergeant Robinson (a man) was convicted on 19 of 20 counts, and got 25 years in Leavenworth because he couldn’t keep his pants zipped up.

On the other hand, 1st Lieutenant Kelly Flinn (a woman) had an affair with an enlisted man in violation of orders; she also had an affair with the husband of one of the women under her. This constitutes sexual misconduct under the rules of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Flinn also violated the UCMJ when she disobeyed a direct order to stop seeing Marc Zigo (the husband of one of her female airmen) and then LIED to her superiors about it. She was scheduled for a court-martial until she went on 60 MINUTES and cry-babied her way through the piece they were doing on the Air Force’s "cruelty and inhumanity" towards her.

Ever the opportunist and seeking to become America’s second feminist President (after Bill Clinton), Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, whose military experience equals Clinton’s - none, went on the tube and took the Air Force to task in this matter. Had Lt. Kelly Flinn been a man, no one would have heard of this whole incident. A man doing this would have been called a predator and the feminists would have wanted his head on a silver platter - the way they wanted and got Sergeant Robinson’s. But the media and presidential wannabes practically canonized Flinn. Even Larry King had her on - twice. She was eventually drummed out of the Air Force with a less than honorable discharge.

We move on to Anita Hill and Monica Lewinsky. The feminists, afraid of another conservative on the High Court, decided to go after Clarence Thomas’ head for the high crime of being black and conservative. The FBI had spoken to Anita Hill during the background clearance on Thomas, which had been completed before the Senate Judiciary Committee held confirmation hearings.

Both the FBI and the Senate Judiciary Committee had determined there was nothing to allegations made by Hill, and they were ready to let the matter close. That is, until some staffer in some Senator’s office leaked the name Anita Hill to the press, and the Senate Judiciary Committee in a display of emergency damage control, re-convened the confirmation hearings so as to appease, or rather placate the feminists.

Fortunately for Thomas, some heavy hitters went to bat for him. The one I remember most was one gentleman, who flew in from San Diego and in his testimony, blew Anita Hill out of the water. The poster child for the feminists (Hill) was shown for the rabble-rouser she was, and Thomas was confirmed to the High Court.

However, when Monica Lewinsky’s name became connected to a dalliance with the President of the United States, the feminists were quick to remain silent on the issue – until now. And when they finally spoke up, it backfired. First Gloria Steinem, when she said the "first one" is free, and Patricia Ireland of NOW on "Meet the Press" Sunday morning. The thought that "their boy" was using his considerable charm and charisma in connection with his high office to seduce the 20-something daughters of the ’soccer moms’ whose vote and rhetoric his message had been tailored to, and was in actuality a predator himself, even now makes them nervous and has them terrified.

As I mentioned earlier, my wife was watching "Meet the Press" and Patricia Ireland of NOW (National Organization for Women) was one of the guests. In defending Clinton’s escapades, Ireland had the temerity to state that had this happened 40 years ago, we would have never heard about it – as if that makes it right. And while she may be technically correct, to make such remarks openly in a public forum such as national television only serves to set back women’s rights 40 years.

It is precisely this mentality which women that Ireland claims to represent, have been fighting against all these years. The time has clearly come for Ireland to either resign her post or be removed therefrom. Ireland made those remarks in order to avoid having to face the feminists’ worst fear: admitting they made a mistake in backing the wrong boy.

And finally, our last display of hypocrisy of feminism is their intolerance towards those who believe in God or some other Supreme Being. In Texas, Karla Faye Tucker was put to death in 1998 for the capital murder of a Houston couple in 1983. Because Karla Faye discovered God in prison, the feminist movement made no effort to prevent her death sentence from being carried out. While there were all sorts of people, including (in an exceptional instance) pro-death penalty point man Pat Robertson of the Christian Broadcasting Network along with the anti-death penalty Pope John Paul II going to bat for her, the feminists left her hanging out to dry, thus letting her go to her death without a peep of dissent.

Feminism was designed to benefit all women, whether they went along with the agenda or not. However, the leaders of the movement - like many other movements and organizations such as labor unions (the National Education Association in particular,) pursue their own agendas at the expense of those whom they are supposed to represent. Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac and like union heads, CEO’s, Congressmen/women and Presidents, the feminists want a slice of the pie too. Most of them do not want to help the everyday man or woman – they only want to help themselves.
