OpinioNet Contributor Bio - Timothy Rollins
With generally conservative political leanings that entail a strong support for the right-to-life as well as the right to keep and bear arms, Tim has (at times) targeted both conservative and liberal politicians for what he describes as "selling out the American people". In the 20+ years he has been voting, he has voted for both Democrats and Republicans alike, thus not making him hard and fast in the way of party loyalty. Registered to vote in New York State, he maintains an active interest in state and local issues that remain a concern to him. Tim got started in politics in 1972, passing out leaflets for the re-election of Richard Nixon, making him the youngest staffer in the office at the time - possibly in the nation. His senior year in high school put him on the map as a political activist and he’s been politically active ever since. Tim’s political philosophy cemented at the University of Utah where he majored in Business Management and minored in Political Science. His favorite president by far is Ronald Reagan, who paved the way for the collapse of the Iron Curtain of Eastern Europe which occurred on George (Papa) Bush’s watch. His column is titled "Beneath the Surface" because of what he feels is the almost always hidden and often not-so-hidden agenda of lawmakers and other politicians that often lies just beneath the proposals they claim will make America a better place, when all too often, the exact opposite occurs. He is Editor-in-Chief for The American Partisan Magazine as well as a columnist for both TAP and OpinioNet Magazines. He is also the past Senior Editor of The American Partisan’s predecessor Right Magazine, former Associate Editor of USA Journal Online and was a regular contributor to the Covenant Syndicate. He has also appeared in Enter Stage Right, Free Republic, Spin Tech, Femme Soul, Web Today and Real Mensch. He has been featured in print as a guest columnist in the Deseret News (Salt Lake City, Utah) and the Halifax (Nova Scotia) Daily Herald in Canada in addition to being featured in the Toronto Sun and USA TODAY. His long-term professional ambition is to be either a columnist for either the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times or other major American newspaper with a lead into nationwide syndication, or even better, a co-host of CNN’s CROSSFIRE, The Capital Gang or something on FOX News Channel. Tim is 42 years old. A practicing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), he is the father of three children.
