The Long And Winding Road To Perdition

"The 'Swamp' Strikes Back"

November 20, 2023

The House Judiciary Committee, and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, recently released a 100-page report, titled “The Weaponization of Disinformation Pseudo-Experts and Bureaucrats: How the Federal Government Partnered With Universities to Censor Americans’ Political Speech.”  And it doesn’t stop there.

It was also revealed in multiple emails released by the Judiciary Committee that government agencies worked in concert to censor Republicans and conservatives leading up to the 2020 election. According to the report, the agencies involved claimed that their reasoning, or excuse, was to fight disinformation. However, their actions only applied to Republicans and conservatives; Democrats and liberals were excused. And we can now add the Department of Homeland Security to the list of cohorts.

What has brought all this about? Let’s take a brief stroll down memory lane. The past seven years have been a rollercoaster ride for the American people. We have seen the good and bad, have had to deal with the ups and downs, and have faced challenges that only a strong-willed and tenacious people could endure. But there was one issue that consumed much of that time and was a daily part of our lives.

From the beginning, Donald Trump took the nation by storm and became a major player on the world stage. His every word and deed was closely scrutinized and in most cases criticized. Candidate Trump was brash, unapologetic, and a larger-than-life figure. Here was a billionaire real estate mogul and celebrity, who for several decades dealt with what many would describe as real hardcore men in the construction industry. Is it any wonder that on occasion, a word or statement would slip through and be deemed inappropriate or controversial?

The mainstream media, for the most part, at first mocked and laughed at his candidacy. But as he campaigned, attitudes changed and adjusted to reality, and the Republican debates were a defining moment. Candidate Trump excelled in the exchange with his competitors and even the debate moderators. He took command of the stage, and the media changed its tune; they became unhinged, hostile, and vindictive in their reporting, while many of the American people applauded.

When candidate Trump won the presidency, there was both a shout of victory from his supporters and a cry of fear and desperation from his detractors. During his time in office President Trump, once a darling of the glitterati and jet set, accumulated many enemies. In the media, entertainment industry, big business, Hollywood, education, and the Democratic Party - the entirety of the ruling class - all these entities were his friends at one time and relied on Mr. Trump for his generous largess.

But as president, the anger, hostility, and deep-seated hatred of Mr. Trump by his detractors knew no bounds. His policies were antithetical to their political and ideological sensibilities, and they did all in their power to undermine and destroy his presidency. Russian collusion, obstruction of justice, a phone call to the Ukrainian president, impeachments, the 25th amendment - President Trump’s enemies were ceaseless in their unending accusations of malfeasance and even accused him of treason.

As the 2020 presidential election season began, the agenda of President Trump’s enemies employed new methods and schemes to undermine his reelection. They reached out to malcontents in the government bureaucracy and its agencies who found disfavor with the president. Factions in the FBI in particular established a line of communication with social media to thwart favorable information on Trump.

When the New York Post published its story on the Hunter Biden laptop in October 2020, the FBI communicated with social media that they should carefully examine the story because it had “all earmarks of Russian disinformation.” Add to this falsification of what were later proven to be accurate and truthful facts were the 51 former intelligence officials who signed a letter that supported the FBI’s false contention.

It was constant harassment, criticism, and hate-filled rhetoric toward the president by the government bureaucracy and its agencies all leading up to the 2020 election. And now the Republicans have the majority in the House of Representatives, and their investigations have revealed evidence of the depth of the unethical chicanery.

The forces of the Left, Democrats, the Department of Justice, the media in all its forms, and the deep state created a groundswell of attacks against Mr. Trump. They all worked in concert to destroy his reelection hopes, further dividing the American people. According to the Judicial Committee chairman Jim Jordan, “The federal government, disinformation ‘experts’ at universities, Big Tech, and others worked together through the Election Integrity Partnership to monitor & censor Americans’ speech.” On social media, Jordon called it “The Censorship Industrial Complex.”

It took his enemies years, but in the end, their efforts culminated in swaying the election against the former president. Their chosen candidate, Joe Biden, who was both physically and mentally incapable of holding office, was elected, to the dismay of many. And consider this, whenever the former president speaks about how the 2020 election was rigged or stolen, he is roundly rebuked and criticized with extreme prejudice. But perhaps, based on all we know now, we can admit he was right.
