A New Year, But The Same Old Politics - And Then Some

January 22, 2024

The New Year began not with the heralded sounds of peace, prosperity, and unity, but with malicious and deplorable vitriol that has become a mainstay in politics, in post-modern America. President Biden has lost the confidence and respect of the American people. But this has not deterred him and his supporters and administration from telling the American people exactly what their agenda and strategy will be in their 2024 reelection campaign for the presidency.

The Biden administration’s immediate concerns are not the economy, inflation, wars in the Ukraine and Israel, and a divided nation. And it has deliberately maintained an open southern border, which has led to a humanitarian disaster unprecedented in recent memory, and of epic proportions. Instead, it has set its sights elsewhere.

This mindset is not only irresponsible and reckless, but is a manifestation of the Democratic Party and a president who have set aside conventional politics, as well as the nation’s welfare and safety. They are more concerned with that which supersedes all other issues. In their narrow and deranged minds, the nation’s most dangerous threat to democracy, more so than even the worst of our enemies, is former President Donald Trump and the MAGA movement.

On January 5, 2024, in a speech, President Biden began his bid for reelection and a path forward. The address he delivered was opportunistic, and motivated both politically and geographically. He carelessly and ruthlessly attacked his opponent, the former president, and used the venue of the historical Valley Forge in Pennsylvania.

It was at Valley Forge that the Continental Army in 1777, under the leadership of General George Washington, made its encampment, during the Revolutionary War for independence. Biden’s mendacity went so far as to compare himself, and his run for reelection, to the storied General and his heroic actions.

Biden went on to say, “Valley Forge tells the story of the pain and suffering and the true patriotism it took to make America. Today we gather in a new year, some 246 years later, just one day before January 6, 2021, a date forever seared in our memory because it was on that day that we nearly lost America, lost it all.”

The impetus for the speech was the alleged threat to democracy in the January 6 Capital riot. For the thirty minutes Biden spoke, he was divisive and anything but unifying. I cannot think of a more reckless and hateful display by a president; his angry demeanor and rhetoric were beneath contempt. He referred to the former president as a “loser,” and his bid for the presidency as a “bad fairy tale.” But his words, from a teleprompter, were also directed at the former president’s Republican allies in Congress whom he accused of having “abandoned democracy, after we nearly lost America,” again inferring to January 6 (2021).

Biden stood at the podium, smirking and visibly angry, and like a minister at the lectern preaching to the congregation about the lies and deceit of the devil, a.k.a. Donald Trump. Save some scattered applause and halleluiahs, the speech was a half-hour of nonstop interminable hyperbole. He accused the former president of using the January 6 riot as a stepping stone to overthrow the 2020 election results, and remain in power. What I believe was one of Biden’s most despicable comments was his invidious comparison to Hitler, likening Trump’s action on January 6 to that of the German madman.

The speech took advantage of questionable off-the-cuff comments made by the former president, which Mr. Trump later clarified. Biden said “Trump’s assault on democracy isn’t just part of his past. It’s what he’s promising for the future. He’s being straightforward; he’s not hiding the ball.” Biden was referring to a comment made by Trump about how he will be a dictator when it comes to his detractors. At a town hall gathering, however, Trump adjusted his comment to “Yes, I will be a dictator, but only on my first day in office, when I close the southern border, and drill baby drill.”

Expect Democrats and the media to use the Hitler comparison as often as necessary going forward. They have nothing else to offer the American people. Biden’s approval rating, as of this writing, is at a record low of 33%.  He receives low approval ratings on just about every question posed by pollsters, from the economy, southern border, crime, and inflation. Democrats will pull out all stops, use gutter tactics, lie, and cheat. They cannot afford to allow former President Trump to regain power, fearing he will undermine their radical leftist agenda.
