House Votes Monday to Repeal the Light Bulb BanJuly 11, 2011Contributed by Freedom Action Dear Fellow Patriots, The House of Representatives has scheduled a vote on Monday, July 11, to repeal the ban on standard incandescent light bulbs. Please e-mail your Representative immediately by clicking here to tell him to vote Yes on H. R. 2417. I realize that you we have already asked you to contact your Members of Congress on the light bulb issue, but it is important that you do so again before the vote on Monday. Several environmental pressure groups and the big companies that will make more money from higher priced alternatives to standard bulbs are lobbying hard against repealing the ban. Don’t let your elected Representative think that these special interests care more about the issue than you do. If you have more time, please telephone your Representative’s office. The Capitol switchboard number is (202) 225-3121. A live operator will connect you to the right office. If you can’t remember your Representative’s name, just give the operator your ZIP Code. Tell your Representative’s office that you oppose the ban on incandescent light bulbs and urge them to vote Yes on H. R. 2417, the bill to repeal the ban. Be sure to leave your name, telephone number, and e-mail or mailing address and ask them to let you know how your Representative voted. Thank you again for your efforts through Freedom Action’s FreeOurLight.org campaign to overturn the federal ban of standard incandescent light bulbs. The ban was enacted in 2007 and begins to take effect on January 1, 2012. It is important that House passes the bill, so that we can focus our efforts on the Democrat-controlled Senate. A Senate version of Rep. Joe Barton's (R-Texas) House bill was introduced earlier this year by Senator Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming). Thanks again for your support on this important issue. Fighting to save the light bulb isn’t free. If you’d like to make a financial contribution to support our efforts, you can do so here. Yours for a brighter future, Myron Ebell Director Freedom Action
