In Defense of Israel

The Hamas/Gaza – Israel war continues, with cease fire after cease fire broken by Hamas terrorists. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues ground offensives and efforts to destroy all Hamas tunnels leading from Gaza into Israel for the purpose of killing civilians. Many tunnels are filled with rockets and weapons that end near child care centers and schools.  Secretary of State John Kerry remains involved in cease fire negotiations led by Egyptian President el Sisi and taking place in Cairo. Hamas was founded in 1987, and its charter calls for the elimination of Israel and the killing of Jews. Therefore, a peace between Israel and Hamas will remain elusive.

Amid a backdrop of the war, anti Israel self proclaimed scholars use gerrymandered history and false propaganda regarding Jews and Israel.  They would have us believe that all land that has been won by nations in wars over the centuries should be considered “occupied”. Name a country other than Israel has been asked to give back land won in war.

After World War II, Israel was declared an independent Jewish State in 1948. Immediately she was attacked and invaded by Arab forces from Egypt, Syria, Transjordan (later Jordan), Lebanon, and Iraq; who vowed to drive her into the sea. Israel was victorious, however, border incidents continued. In 1967 Egypt’s President Nasser mobilized units in the Sinai. Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan joined forces with Nasser against Israel. This war ended in 6 days with Israel victorious and in control of Jerusalem’s Old City and the West Bank from Jordan; The Golan Heights from Syria; and the Sinai Peninsula and Gaza from Egypt. Israel annexed the lands won in this war. The lands won from Jordan are still referred to as the “West Bank”. 

Endeavors to use the Biblical History of Isaac and Ishmael as justification for Israel giving up land in the West Bank, defies logic. Abraham and his wife Sarah were the parents of Isaac. Abraham and the servant of Sarah, Hagar, were the parents of Ishmael. Isaac became a leader of the Jews, and Ishmael a leader of Arabs; therefore comes a faulty premise that the State of Israel should be divided between the Israeli Jews and the Arabs of Hamas. Ishmael was banished to Bakka which became the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia and the seat of Islam. There is one Jewish State, and there many Arab States. There has never been a Palestinian State, and no land was taken from Palestine for Jews. 

When anti Israel propaganda finds itself in the media, let’s set the facts straight.
