God Knows the Number of our DaysMay 4, 2015I would like to respond to the proposed Death with Dignity Act, which would put us in a position to “play God” and miss the blessing of a miracle in our life. I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. On the day of diagnosis I was told I had days – possibly two weeks – to live without treatment. I would deteriorate quickly and go into the hospital, and, because I would not be able to breathe, be put on a respirator (which I dread the thought of). I was told that with treatment, which only had a 20 percent chance of working, I might live up to six months. I took the treatment. That was four years ago this month, I am in remission and greet each new day as a gift. And, yes, I am a Christian and I believe God knows the number of our days.
