America’s Economic Collapse – Revisiting a Dire Prophecy

A Prophetic Warning for our country

November 13, 2017

It may seem inappropriate or ill-timed to discuss the portent of an economic collapse in America while at the moment GDP and other signs of growth are beginning to recover. President Trump is spearheading the most important tax break in modern history and likewise he is ready to revamp the IRS to help us cope with a decade’s long fiscal decline and the spiraling of the national debt.

Not Trump's Doing

The predicted collapse won’t come because of Donald
Trump, but in spite of him. The many reasons for a fiscal fall and the timing of it may not be completely clear, but there is every reason to believe that it is on track for the near future.

Charles Hugh Smith of the ‘Daily Reckoning’ also says Mr. Trump will not be the reason for the fall. In a piece entitled “The Fading Scent of the American Dream” Smith says, “This dynamic has yet to fully play out, but it will. Whatever you think of Trump, his election isn’t the problem; it’s merely a symptom of much deeper forces that will sweep our corrupt and rotten-to-the-core status quo into the dustbin of history.”

Economists and politicians

Other voices like Michael Snyder who is now running for Congress
says that it will be our enormous debt that will be the key element leading to the fall. Snyder is a conservative author and the owner of a website called “The Economic Collapse.”

Noted voices such as the evangelical pastor, teacher and author Erwin Lutzer have long weighed in on the subject of America’s economic demise. Lutzer was the pastor of Moody Church in Chicago, Illinois from 1980 to 2016, and to this day can still be heard on Moody broadcasts across the nation in programs such as "Songs in the Night," "Running to Win," and "The Moody Church Hour."

Lutzer believes that our economy is hard connected to our politics and our future. If the economy collapses it is because we have drifted or even run away from our dependence on God. Lutzer says “When given a choice, most people probably will choose bread and sausage above the free market and individual liberties.”

Many others agree with Lutzer. The idea that a despot on the order of Adolph Hitler could never ascend to power in America, or rule this nation from outside the country, such as the antichrist is not a wise presumption. If the economy collapses America may yield to the devil himself to get things back to the status quo.

The Giver of Wealth Speaks Today – Things both Old and New

In a nation that wants to pull down crosses, shut the mouths of those who decry the rampant immorality of sexual deviancy and abortion, it may seem like pure nonsense to think that God gives or withholds all wealth as he may see fit.

But, God has never changed and He alone will decide how much wealth we have collectively or individually. God told the ancient Israelites not to become presumptuous and begin to think they had produced the blessings all around them.

“And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” (De 8: 17-18)

Sadly, the Israelites did not listen and eventually lost all their wealth and their nationhood as well. America is set on a path just like Israel and it is presumptuous for us to expect anything less.

Almost 40 years ago God also spoke to me about America’s wealth and prosperity. The message was strong, clear and to the point. He declared to me that our nation will undergo a time of extreme poverty and scarcity unlike anything we have ever known. He also warned that not many will heed the warning and even fewer will seek him to prepare their lives to deal with his judgments.

Remedial Judgments are Precursors to Serious Destruction

This writer was awestruck when somewhere between 220,000 and 300,000 people lost their lives to the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami of 2004. I wondered what sort of sin if any that these people had committed more than any other nation or region in the world.

I am not one to declare that every disaster is a direct interventional judgment of God, but I am also not going to insist that He does not, or cannot, use any means at his sovereign disposal to deal with nations. I have no right to do that.

Oddly, about one year after the great tsunami, while doing some research for an article, I discovered that the child trafficking and porn industry in that region was a $12 billion dollar a year industry.

It is not hard for me to believe that the despair, the pain, and the cries for help that rose up to heaven from the many children that were being abused came into God’s ears and he responded.

We are told a single sparrow cannot meet his death without the knowledge of the living God (Mt 10:29); do we dare to think that the brutality used against our own innocent and helpless offspring would not anger a righteous God?

Can we be that dumb?

Is an Economic Collapse America’s Most Advanced Stage of Remedial Judgment?

It is difficult for most people to see disasters, calamities, attacks, and other national emergencies as remedial judgments, so we can only imagine how few people are able to see yet another difficult biblical truth. The truth is that remedial judgments, unrecognized and unheeded, lead to destruction.

Our nation may be perhaps the most noble of all nations to arise in ancient or modern times. Like most great powers throughout history this fact plays into our collective inability to see the forest for the trees. So high, so mighty are our towers that we not only think they cannot be toppled, but we fail to heed the warnings of the sentries atop our great towers who continuously call us to pay attention to the oncoming flood of great portents.

For the last half century I have endeavored to explain how America may, in the end, give sway to a totally despotic ruler, probably the antichrist of the scripture, himself.

The Answer We Least Expect is the Very Crux of the Matter

I know now beyond a doubt, how all of the ancient biblical prophets must have felt. They were ignored, reviled, hated, and in some instances killed. Some say it was indifference that was the hardest thing for them to deal with, I could not agree more.

In the end it is not about them or me, it is always about coming to terms with God. The days when people ignored God are long over, lines have been drawn around the globe and now the final gospel call has gone out. We who broadcast the precious message of eternal life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ can no longer let indifference or hatred affect us in a personal way.

The ancient message is the same as the gospel, men must repent. The hope of renewal, revival, and restoration are all desirable, but realistically none of those things have a chance without repentance.

Let’s look at it once again. Train the eye on the phrase “turn from their wicked ways.” This is the shortest way, to get off the coruscated flittery and glittery liberal pathway to separation from God which leads to the inevitable destruction of our nation.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2Ch 7: 14)
