The Face of an Invisible Killer

I’m convinced that some of our ruling political class does not want us to reopen our economy. Instead, they would have us endure the pain and suffering of their draconian stay-at-home orders. 

First, it’s a simple matter of control. The left is addicted to the idea of control. You can see it in the draconian mandates issued by Democrat governors, and the House Democrats who hold up small business assistance for their own pet projects. 

And second, it’s about politics and the upcoming presidential election. 

They understand that the best chance they have of unseating Trump is for the nation to limp into November with a crashed economy, insanely high unemployment, and a perpetually disheartened electorate. 

Am I saying that the Democrats, leftist bureaucrats, and the media care more about control and winning an election than the health of the American people? 

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. And by their own actions, they prove it daily. 

However, there’s a problem. The American people aren’t cooperating. They’re gathering at State Houses around the country, demanding to be released from forced home confinement and a return to work. 

And Republican governors are dismissing the advice of government scientists, the useless W.H.O., the inept C.D.C., and the leftist media, to keep their States shuttered indefinitely. 

However, anyone with eyes and a brain can see that COVID-19 is not the black plague killer that these supposed experts the media trots out continue to try to convince us it is. 

And therein lies the problem. It’s harder for the left because this is a faceless enemy, so it’s much more difficult to harden a nation against an invisible threat. 

Oh sure, they announce the increase in infections and publish the daily death count, but that is hardly the constant in-your-face reminder that will keep the masses in perpetual fear. 

So what can the statists do? Well, they must somehow put a face to this invisible foe – something easily recognizable. And they believe they’ve found it – the face mask. 

If they can convince the populace to all don face masks, the viral foe will no longer be invisible. A face mask will become a symbol and a constant reminder that America is not only not winning, but is helpless against this enemy and must look to the government for guidance. For only when government and world experts say it’s okay, the masks can come off and the fight will be won. 

Some, like NBC News contributor Dr. Joseph Fair, say (1) that, “there should be a nationwide mandate” to wear facial coverings. 

In an interview with AccuWeather (2), Shan Soe-Lin, a lecturer in global affairs at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, said that people "are going to have to wear masks until there's a vaccine." 

Of course, securing a vaccine may never happen, but if they do develop one, these same experts are predicting it may be a minimum of 18 months away. 

So for a minimum of the next 18 months, we must all wear a mask. 

Not gonna happen!
