Why the Paris Climate Accord is Wrong for America

March 22, 2021

One of the first actions President Biden did on entering the White House was to sign an executive order on America reversing President Trump’s action and rejoining the Paris Climate Accord.

Let's assume the world is actually warming (it's not, there has been no warming since a tiny amount in the late 1990s) (1), but for argument's sake, we will assume the climate alarmists are right. That brings us to the Paris Climate Accord, which is a really BAD, deal for America. It was bad when it was originally signed in 2016, it was bad when President Trump pulled the US out of it in 2017 and it’s still just as bad now despite the fact that John Kerry gushes over it. (And that alone should be reason enough for any thinking person to take a deep look at what’s involved!)

Despite the fact that almost all mainstream media and the globalists at the World Economic Forum, complained loudly when President Trump announced that the United States would formally withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, his decision was the correct one. So why has Joe Biden rushed to rejoin this disastrous accord? One can only assume either he and his team don’t actually understand the terms of the agreement or they are so sold on the quasi-religious “need to save mother earth” philosophy that they are blinded to the reality that the earth is not warming and the climate models this accord and others like it are based upon, are total garbage and should have been thrown out long ago.

Because that’s the first real problem here. All the climate hysteria seen among global elites, Hollywood celebs, and leftist politicians is based on climate models that are proven to be totally inaccurate. (2)

With the benefit of hindsight, we can now look back on the “warming” predictions and see NONE of them have come to pass. We were all warned that the average long-term global temperatures would rise up to 3 degrees Celsius by 2020. James Hansen from NASA was the alarmist who started this and repeated the claim far and wide. With hindsight, he got his scary predictions wrong 100% with ZERO warming since a tiny rise in 1997. Likewise, all the predictions about CO2 in the atmosphere doubling by 2020 and rising sea levels were so far off the mark as well. (3) At the most CO2 is up by 23% since the 1990s and numerous papers have been written on the POSITIVE effects this is having on global agriculture. (4)

The second BIG problem with the Paris Climate Accord is that it’s bad economically for the USA and a real economic threat to Americans. Obama’s team that negotiated the deal didn’t think about the loss of American jobs and the increases in energy prices that reducing carbon emissions by 30% over a decade would produce. (Just look to Germany for how bad going “green energy” can be for consumers). Just as closing the Keystone pipeline has led to job losses, the Paris Climate Accord will do likewise. This is why President Trump pulled the US out of it. As he noted, the economic cost was not spread across the globe with America's biggest economic rival, China getting a free pass with no commitments to reduce carbon emission for years to come. And if the climate alarmists really cared about reducing carbon emissions, China is the first place to look as they produce MORE CO2 than the USA and the EU combined due to their coal-powered economy. And despite great fanfare in the worlds’ media, China (and India for that matter), have said they will decrease carbon emissions, yet they have in fact increased them and have added more coal-fired energy plants. (5)

This is something team Biden either hasn’t thought through or they don’t care. Either way, the Paris Climate Accord is not something America or even the world needs right now.
