Christianity Threatened By The Devil In Disguise

July 24, 2023

Surveys reveal that over the last 30 to 40 years, religious observance in America has steadily declined, from 60% in the 1990s to 30% at present. The American people have lost sight of God, and the need to embrace spirituality. It appears they have become casualties of the culture war, and have found something else to fill the void and satisfy their needs and cravings.

And who or what is it that some people have accepted into their lives, which they feel is filling that void and replacing established religion? Perhaps it has something to do with the pursuit of wealth and fame and materialism that many have succumbed to. The many vices and deviancies people are inclined to covet are all part of human folly that has had a place in the lives of the confused, displaced, and morally weak.

What I speak of can be found not only in large cities and left-wing progressive strongholds, but can be found in small towns and communities across the country, in places where God-fearing Americans, conservatives, and traditionalists live. It is being advanced as a freedom, a right to practice as afforded by the First Amendment to the Constitution; I speak of Satanism.

As an example, in Belle Plaine, Minnesota, the city set the stage for a sequence of events that led to officials approving plans for a satanic monument to be erected in their Veterans Memorial Park. According to the local Satanists, the Park had a soldier praying over a grave with a cross. It is their contention that they should have an equal right to display their symbolic belief in what is a free speech zone. This satanic monument would be the first of its kind on public property in American history.

Tremendous opposition, a petition signed by over 25000, and a protest by several hundred townspeople forced the City Council to abolish the park's free speech zone. The Satanist’s attempt to erect their monument was thwarted, and eventually, they were defeated. However, do not be fooled, they may have lost the monument battle, but the war continues.

The intent of the Satanists is to spread their message throughout the country into the mainstream. According to the movement and its followers, worship of the Devil is not their objective. It is to offer an alternative to organized religion, Christianity in particular. It hopes to replace religion in the lives of those looking for something more exotic, something that will open up new vistas. To accomplish this, they believe younger minds are ripe for indoctrination; education is their main target.

Beginning in 2020, After School Satan Clubs, those associated with the Satanic Temple, have been steadily growing in popularity and number across the country. This group has been gaining media attention, and winning legal battles for free speech rights. Most satanic movements can trace their lineage to the Satanic Temple. While the Satan Clubs have become highly controversial, they say that their intentions are not to proselytize students or to instruct in worship of the devil.

In one case at the B.M. Williams Primary School in Chesapeake, VA, Satanists requested to introduce an After School Satan Club. Although it took almost 3 years, official approval was given this past February (2023). A spokesperson for the Club was quoted as saying “The school was giving us the runaround. They were in the background looking for any way that they could prevent us from meeting.” After its first meeting, the school received a bomb threat.

The Satanic Temple was founded in 2014. On its website, it says its mission is to “encourage benevolence and empathy, reject tyrannical authority.” A member should also use “practical common sense” and stand up for justice, according to its website. A spokesperson for the Temple stated, “We’re definitely not interested in having children identify as Satanists.”

According to June Everett, Director of the After School Satan Clubs, there were some parents who were looking for alternatives to regular religious clubs. Everett stated “That’s kind of when things started blowing up. And I anticipate that every year moving forward is going to get busier and busier.” An official of the Satan Club stated, in effect, to those who would seek to partake: if your goal is to “sell my soul, get rich, join the Illuminati, etc., they should look somewhere else.”

Thus far, based on what I have written, you would tend to think that the Satanic Temple and its branch members are nothing more than harmless clubs with good intentions. However, there are Satanist groups that are far more aggressive and dangerous. They have contempt for Christianity, the Catholic Church in particular. They perform what is called the “Black Mass,” which is blasphemous and sacrilegious, going so far as to desecrate the Holy Eucharist.

Don’t be fooled by Satanism, and all their gestures and efforts to convince the gullible of normalcy, and that their intentions are decent and wholesome. They support abortion and same-sex marriage. They say all they seek to do is to give people something different, an alternative to organized religion. I say their ultimate goal is to undermine and usurp America's Judeo-Christian heritage and replace it with some semblance of a religion, the one of their namesake, Satan, the Devil, enemy of God.
