A Question or Two for Governor WalzBy Phil Perkins August 19, 2024Of all the extreme left positions Governor Walz has taken on important issues of the day, perhaps the most controversial involves his robust support of the LGBTQ agenda. The rationale for supporting the trans movement in particular rests on the notion that children who are desperate to change their sex may not be supported by parents, doctors, and other authority figures, and therefore have nowhere to turn. In short, Democrats who favor pro-transgender policies have made this into a morality play in which the innocent child is the victim of cruel parents and others who would deny them what they so desperately want. This desperation, in their opinion, may lead to feelings of hopelessness and contemplating suicide. In other words, in following Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, they use our values against us to promote their cause – which in reality is just another way for them to exercise political power. There has been a lot of critiquing of J.D. Vance’s performance thus far as a vice-presidential candidate, but most of that comes from things he’s said in the past, not what he’s saying now. And Vance has come out strongly critical of Governor Walz’s leaving his unit prior to getting deployed to Iraq, which as someone who served there himself, he has every right to do. But it’s the issues, people will argue, that Vance and Trump need to discuss. I would humbly submit that Walz’s unabashed support of the transgender agenda is one of the key issues even though it isn’t related to the economy or the southern border. Why? Because (1) it’s evil for many reasons, one of which is the government’s stepping in between a child and their parents, and (2) it’s being used by the left to gain further political power under the guise of “compassion” for kids who are not mature enough to make such life-altering decisions on their own. Think about the cognitive dissonance involved here to proclaim it’s perfectly fine for the government to stick its nose into this situation, yet we’re told that the government needs to stay out of women’s “health care” choices regarding abortion. The reason they’ve gotten away with so much on the trans issue is that our side has been afraid to push back, for much the same reason as the race issue – fear of being labeled as a “bigot.” Imagine, if you will, the future vice-presidential debate in which Vance will ask Walz the million-dollar question, since the so-called “moderator” most certainly won’t. That question is this: "Governor Walz, would you enforce your LGBTQ policy on your (hypothetical) 10-year-old grandson who says he feels like he may be a girl, even if his parents disagree? And if so, please tell us what that would entail. Would that involve acceding to the child’s wishes including so-called ‘corrective’ surgery, hormone treatments, etc.? Would the parents’ refusal to give in to pressure from the government, the school, and maybe even doctors lead to their arrest? To the child being removed from their custody, by force if necessary? Please, Governor, the American people deserve your response on this so they know where you really stand." If this question and the follow-up doesn’t rattle the supposedly kindly old uncle figure that Walz pretends to be, then I can only surmise that he has even more evil in his heart than we suspected. And this is just the tip of the iceberg regarding the questions that could be asked about this issue. For instance, do you favor putting pressure on medical schools to adopt the transgender agenda in educating future doctors about the “right” way to treat highly impressionable children who are in this questioning situation? And as doctors adopt the pro-transgender tactics, do you agree that they should actively work to browbeat the child’s parents into submission or, in the extreme, proceed without their knowledge or permission until it’s too late? You may ask, why all the fuss about a transgender agenda that impacts maybe 1-2 percent of the population? I would submit that the policies championed by Governor Walz have a potential rippling and chilling effect throughout society. For instance, children educated to “tattle” on their parents about these matters will also be encouraged to rat them out on others. Pitting children against parents is fundamental to weakening the nuclear family, which is the key building block of a free society. And it can work both ways these days – unfortunately, some parents are guilty of pressuring their children to change their gender against the child’s wishes. When the ramifications of the transgender agenda are revealed, it will be a wake-up call many apathetic Americans need. Only then may they realize whom they’re really voting for or against in November and how important their votes are.
