We Are In A War - Against Spiritual PowersBy Paul Hayden September 15, 2025What can possibly be said that hasn't been said already? We are trying to understand what just happened with Charlie Kirk. How can you process this? This is one of the most cataclysmic events our world has experienced in quite a long time. Not necessarily because it was Charlie Kirk specifically, and yet it is totally because it was him. He became a focal point for the cultural and social war in which we are embroiled. Moreover, he was in this because of spiritual reality, because of his faith in Jesus Christ as revealed by the Spirit of God, of which the Bible is the main source of this Truth. There are so many facets to this whole event that make it so huge.
There will be copious thoughts about all of this in the days to come, as there has already been in just the past few days. There are those who would seek to capitalize on this event, for popularity, for prestige, and even for money. There are those who stoop to the lowest levels of life in celebrating Charlie's death, saying he deserved this, relishing his demise. There are many who, in the excitement of the moment, are making grand commitments to following and doing everything they can to “make Charlie proud.” But each one of us will move on, and we will do what we will do. Not to be pessimistic at all - it's just reality. We each must settle in our own hearts how we will relate to God, which is the true deciding factor in each of our lives. The ones who can and will understand this most fully are the ones who are submitted to the revelation of God, in a commitment to the Kingdom of God, who have given their hearts and lives to the one, true, living God of the Bible. I do not say at all that I understand fully, but I do know I understand better than many whom I have heard speak or write about this event. I am seeking to understand more, as this is an important event in all our lives. I trust there will be more to come on this war, this spiritual war…

![]() "I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
