The Devil’s Winning The Skirmishes…But He’ll Lose The War

Whatever one’s thoughts are regarding the tragic shooting of an anti-ICE protester recently, there’s no doubt that this incident is a flame accelerant on the raging fire of an already bitterly-divided country. Instead of playing the never-ending blame game that no one ever “wins,” perhaps we should be more focused on why these events keep happening. 

One reason I believe so strongly that God had a major hand in the birth of this nation is how hard the enemy of our souls has worked ever since to destroy it. Events like the recent shooting are the skirmishes that the devil excels at winning. Creating chaos and division wherever and whenever he can is how he rolls. And given his track record in the skirmishes, it would be all too easy for us to throw up our hands and say, “This is hopeless. The United States is no longer united in any meaningful way, so let’s give up the pretense that we are.” But if we did that, we’d be handing the enemy a victory he surely does not deserve. As an old pastor friend of mine once observed when starting a sermon series on the Book of Revelation, “I know there are some disturbing things in this book, but I peeked at the end, and guess what – God wins!”

Of course, the prevailing wisdom these days, at least according to those on the left who try to foist it on the rest of us, is that there is no absolute good or evil in the world; everything is relative in the eyes of the beholder. However, their argument breaks down when one considers their attitude toward conservatives or those who carry out the conservative cause. For instance, in their world, all ICE agents are “evil” because they are President Trump’s instruments in carrying out an “evil” (in their opinion) mission. Labeling the agents as “Gestapo” or “fascists” is simply their way of expressing how evil they believe the ICE mission is. 

Therefore, in their view, no action against an ICE agent is off-limits, up to and including death of the agent if deemed necessary to eradicate the “threat.” Maybe it’s about time we started using the left’s words and positions against them instead of the reverse we so often encounter these days. This means pointing out the contradiction between “everything is relative” and “ICE agents are an absolute evil.” Perhaps only then will the “Normie Norms,” the fence-sitters in the skirmishes, see the light about whose intentions are truly the evil ones.

To acknowledge an absolute definition of good and evil is to tacitly acknowledge the existence of a Creator who defined these things for us. But, to a committed anti-ICE, pro-Marxist person, this is anathema to their beliefs that discount organized religion as the “opiate of the masses,” as Marx put it. Since they unwittingly adopt Marxist communism as their “religion,” any competing religion (with the possible exception of Islam) is seen as a malevolent force that must be minimized if not destroyed. When Democrat politicians across blue states and cities both east and west keep spouting the same crazy talking points about the evils of ICE, it’s easy to think that their incendiary words are not their true thoughts, but are said to (1) placate their fanatical left-wing base, and (2) provide the obligatory condemnation of Trump as they do on virtually every issue. But from a spiritual aspect, there’s more than that going on. 

We’ve been given assurances that the money behind financing the anti-ICE protests will be traced to the guilty parties, and justice will be forthcoming for those individuals or entities. There can be no doubt that the protesters, who are out in force day in and day out in places like Minneapolis, must be getting subsistence money from some wealthy source since they apparently have no other job. Whether it’s George Soros or another leftist billionaire is immaterial. Whoever it is will not make it easy to be caught red-handed, and they undoubtedly have legions of high-priced lawyers at their beck and call. Are these shadowy financiers doing the devil’s bidding? To answer that, I think we need to look at their motivation and their ultimate stated goal.

If one believes in the biblical description of an antichrist world leader emerging in the end times, then those like Soros who openly favor a one-world government are enabling the prophecy to be fulfilled. And that means, ultimately, that they are doing the devil’s bidding in their efforts to destroy the United States as originally constituted. After all, in looking around the world these days, America is the only nation that is capable of standing against the powers-that-be and their desire for a one-world government. 

The far-left wing of the Democrat party, which is now driving that party’s agenda, is in lockstep with that one-world goal. The sooner the Normie Norms in this country wake up to this fact, the better. If it’s true that we’re headed toward a one-world government someday, America needs to resist to the end as the beacon of freedom that it’s always been. Since God will ultimately win, we can take comfort that He will provide a remnant of believers to stand firm on God’s promises and share their faith with others. Surely, much prayer is needed for our leaders in these scary times.
