Why Are Things So Convoluted?By Paul Hayden February 16, 2026The older I get, the more I long for simplicity. At least I think that is so. I try to see the “big picture,” but it seems to be getting more and more complicated all the time. I have been accused of seeing things only in “black and white,” and maybe this is so. But maybe things in life are really meant to be more simple, more basic, and not so complicated. Is this an “old man” thing? I do think that we humans often like to make things more complicated than they need to be. As a handyman, who repairs things that are broken, I see all the time things that are designed and made by someone who does NOT have to repair or clean those items. I guess I am just very pragmatic. Make stuff that really works, and that can be repaired, or even that just lasts longer in the first place. I did not plan on this being even a semi-rant, but I can feel it coming on… Hey, I can't help it, maybe I was re-born this way! Let's get back to a simpler time, when “screen time” was not a major psychological concern. Let's go back and learn to just care about one another, love one another, and care about the common good. Is there even such a thing? I think there still can be. Oh, and by the way, Happy “Presidents” Day! Imagine the wonderful, thoughtful, impactful, and brilliant presidents of our country, especially Lincoln and Washington, being commemorated for only ONE DAY, while the WHOLE MONTH OF JUNE is offered up as a celebration for the sins and sexual deviations from godly normalcy by those who have HIJACKED the rainbow for their dark purposes. Blessings!!!

Paul Hayden is a Christian believer, and an American patriot, necessarily in that order. He is a student of the Bible, and is avidly interested in our role in the context of history, as understood through the heart and eyes of faith. Paul has lived and traveled somewhat widely, and now lives in the heartland of the U.S. (central Illinois), with his wife Donna - they have five grown children. Since December of 2016, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of www.ConservativeTruth.org."I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
