Health And HealingBy Paul Hayden April 20, 2026This is perhaps the first time Conservative Truth newsletter email has gone out late in around 26 years! But I have a really good reason…(Sorry, Tom!) Health issues can become more of a concern as we age. Well, I have some of the old “good news, bad news.” It's mostly good news, or good results. But also some concerns. I had the third heart ablation done for my A-fib on April 16, last Thursday. It went very well, and I was sent home only hours after coming out of the sedation. I felt great, full of energy. The next day, same thing - I felt really good after the minor surgery. But then it hit. Friday evening, I started to feel very short of breath, tight in the chest, and congested. I couldn't hardly move around, very weak, and unable to breathe very well. But it did seem to get a very little better at times. We don't tend to rush to the ER or doctor too quickly. I stayed home and went to bed, able to breathe just enough. Till Sunday morning. Just walking up a flight of stairs was almost impossible. My oxygen levels were running from about 92 down to 83! We talked to a friend who strongly suggested heading into the ER. I am currently in the hospital with a mild congestive heart failure, probably triggered in connection to my third heart ablation. It has likely been waiting to appear in the past few weeks, and the surgery set it off. With serious breathing stress, it turns out I had a touch of pneumonia as well as extra fluid around the heart. I was admitted into the hospital on April 19 to relieve excess fluids, have tests, and plan the next phases of treatment. Here on Tuesday evening (4/21), it looks like I will be in the hospital at least another day or two while they try to figure stuff out. Here's the good news. The surgery itself went well, and my heart is back in normal rhythm. I was taken off oxygen about 24 hours after admission, with good oxygen levels. I have high hopes that my quick-healing constitution - a gift from God - will continue to help me heal up quickly. I praise God all the while. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Give close attention to your health. God bless you!

Paul Hayden is a Christian believer, and an American patriot, necessarily in that order. He is a student of the Bible, and is avidly interested in our role in the context of history, as understood through the heart and eyes of faith. Paul has lived and traveled somewhat widely, and now lives in the heartland of the U.S. (central Illinois), with his wife Donna - they have five grown children. Since December of 2016, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of www.ConservativeTruth.org."I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
