Change...How To Deal With Change

May 25, 2026

Change! What is it?

Change is always happening, whether we like it or not. Many things change, but some do not change. The very things we would like to change often don't. But the things we want to stay the same forever - they too often change! So how do we deal with change? The adage about the “old dog” not learning new tricks becomes all too real after you have spent seven decades here on this planet. But change can happen. Some things SHOULD change, and some things shouldn't! It is just a learning process to discover which is which!!!

Many people know - or at least have heard - 1 Corinthians 13 from the New Testament. It is called the “love chapter,” where Paul shares some wonderful qualities of the love of God, and how it looks in our lives. This little passage is worthy of study for an entire lifetime, to learn and apply it.

"4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails…13 But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love."

There is another chapter 13, in the book of Hebrews, that has some excellent thoughts as well.

Hebrews 13.1-9
"1 Let love of the brethren continue.
2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
3 Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body.
4 Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,"
6 so that we confidently say, "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?"
7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
9 Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings…"

The key takeaway from this Hebrews passage is that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” And “He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.’”

In a lifetime of faith, faced with all sort of changes from wonderful to horrible, these can be some of the most comforting words you will ever hear.

God loves you, He has high expectations of you, and He is with you to fulfill those wonderful things of life.

God Bless You All!

My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
