"Seek first the Kingdom of God..."

What's up in your life today? 

The first of the month is coming again. Bills to pay. Prepare for winter, as it will be here too soon. Clean out this corner or that. Get rid of that old pile of junk. Gotta put that stuff where it goes. Go over some notes for some jobs coming up. So much to do!

I am working at simplifying my life. But it doesn't come as easily as I might hope. So much of it is in our mind. 

I recently heard a philosophical comedian say that “happiness is simply your life right now - MINUS all your expectations.” 

Think about it. Are you at the place in your life where you thought you would be? What were you expecting? Take where you are right now, look around, and instead of considering what you may have been expecting, consider a “worst-case scenario.” Things can almost always be better than they are, but they could also be much, much worse!

Right now, many people around the world live in luxurious splendor compared to others throughout history. We have food, we have sanitation, information, longer and healthier lives, and so much that many could not have even imagined 200 years ago. 

So what can you do to make things better? Get a little philosophical with your life. Really look inside and ask yourself what you really need, and observe what you have. 

And be thankful. Really lift your heart and eyes to God and GIVE THANKS for all that you have. It can help you endure the hardships, true tough times and circumstances, that will surely come your way sooner or later.

Jesus' words, from Matthew chapter 6:25-34

"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'
For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
