The number of doctors in the U.S. is 700,000. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000, or 17.14 percent. These statistics are courtesy of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (yes, that’s 80 million). The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.001875 percent. Those statistics are courtesy of the FBI.
Perhaps we should tax doctors rather than guns and ammunition. Guns and ammunition taxes already pay for the preservation of wildlife and our national parks. They should not be taxed again to pay for the crimes of people who do not qualify or possess them.
As for the idiots who are killing innocent people: Quit allowing them to plea bargain down to lesser offenses. In most cases, the first offenses dropped are weapons offenses. Enforce the laws we have. Put the criminals in jail and quit infringing on the rights of the law-abiding citizens.
