The Uncanny Resemblance

The world is looking like it did when World War II started in 1939. It’s almost unthinkable but our enemies must be emboldened.

Consider:
Russia’s leader is not Hitler. But Vladimir Putin is a politician like Hitler and former KGB official. The KGB operated like Hitler’s SS or his earlier Brown Shirts. It still does. Putin is a dictator and street-smart thug who fought his way to the top and has stayed there through tough tactics, just as Hitler did.

As Hitler mounted war in Europe, his Axis allies, Japan and Italy, did the same in their spheres. Japan waged war in China. Italy invaded Ethiopia in 1935. Similarly today, China, like Japan in the 1930s, is looking to expand, is building its military and threatens Taiwan and Japan – if not the entire Pacific. Militant Islam is conquering the Middle East, Indonesia, and other parts of the world. It is setting the stage in other countries, winning skirmishes in Europe, even here.  

Meanwhile, America, like Britain under Neville Chamberland in those dark pre-WWII days, attempts a foolish policy of appeasement, even grovel.

At least Chamberland ventured to Germany and tried to reason personally with Hitler, who smiled, lied, and continued invading. Where will Putin go next? President Obama doesn’t even try serious negotiation with him. He warns him from afar with a microphone on the White House lawn. He utters Chamberlain-speak like invasion of Crimea isn’t in anybody’s interest.

Does he think that scares Putin?

Did Chamberlain’s “Peace in our time” stop Hitler?

Is Secretary of State John Kerry stopping Militant Islam – a movement of barbarous violence, elimination of human rights and religious intolerance?  Sounds like the Nazis to me.

Did former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stop Militant Islam? I think the question is how much did she help it?  It’s advancing all over the world and that is a fact.

If all that isn’t uncannily parallel to what the world looked like just before World War II, consider the American military. Obama’s design is to downsize our air, see and ground forces to pre-World War II levels. Pardon me for being redundant but that’s exactly how it was when WWII started. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941 and we finally were forced into the war, we were hopelessly ill equipped and undermanned. The purpose of a robust and well-equipped military is to deter war. We weren’t deterring then. The Japanese took a gamble and bombed us at Pearl crippling us even more.

Obama is doing the same thing to us without any enemy even firing a shot. Consequently, we are on the road to what the US was when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Not only is manpower and equipment being cut, but warrior leaders who know how to fight and are needed when the shooting starts, are being purged from the leadership ranks, while the military itself, whose only real purpose is to destroy and conquer, has been turned into an implement of social change where deference to Islam, diversity, women in combat and gays are a higher priority than readiness or fighting.

This is by design. It is the way Obama wants it. But he is being looked at in the same way Hitler looked at his enemies – weak and without the will to fight. We are no longer in a position to scare the bullies, fanatics and power grabbers of the world. If they see weakness, just as Hitler and the Japanese militarists saw it in the late 1930s, there is the strong chance they will throw caution to the wind, as the Germans and Japanese did, and grab.

That is human nature. It has been that way throughout history. And, as they say, those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.
