Why We Like 'Aha' MomentsBy Ed Delph October 1, 2018![]() I remember speaking at a very large church in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the pastor introduced me to his congregation this way. “Some speakers, when they come to our church we have a healing revival…healing revival! Other speakers when they come here we have a miracle revival…miracle revival. Today, we have Ed Delph. Today we have a revelation revival…revelation revival.” Dr. Chew of SIBKL church, one of my dearest friends in Asia, said that. I guess that’s good branding by a satisfied customer. I dispense revelation, not just information. Leaders and the audience receive an 'Aha!' moment on growing a church for the community, leadership, soul prosperity and the transformation process. I love 'Aha!' moments. It moves people from information to revelation through illumination which unleashes transformation which requires perspiration. It’s not just acquiring knowledge, it’s receiving understanding of the knowledge. Knowledge is ‘what.’ Understanding is ‘why’ the ‘what.’ One moves from getting taught to really learning. Learning is when knowledge moves to understanding, then to wisdom. What’s wisdom? It is the proper and constructive use of knowledge coming through understanding. Here are some posts on my FaceBook this year of what I call, Aha! for Today. These might catch your attention. I hope something speaks and you get something that changes you. These quotes are easily found on the internet. Let’s start with general 'Ahas' for today: “What about that awkward moment when you're wearing Nike's and you can't do it.” “I think it's wrong that only one company makes Monopoly.” “I'm not an early bird or a night owl. I'm some form of thoroughly exhausted pigeon.” “Common sense is like deodorant. People who need it most never use it.” “My fake plants died because I didn't pretend to water them.” More 'Ahas': “This too shall pass. It may pass like a kidney stone, but it'll pass.” “If you are cooler than me, wouldn't that make me hotter than you?” “Most people write ‘Congrats’ because they don't know the spelling of ‘Congradjulashions.’” “Never judge a book by its movie.” Here’s some Food 'Ahas.' “I didn't mean to gain weight. It happened by ‘snackcident.’” “Dear Food: Make up your mind. Either stop tasting so delicious or stop making me fat.” “I may look like a potato now, but one day, I'll turn into fries and you'll all want me then.” “I just don't want to look back on my life and say, ‘I could've eaten that.’” “I don't mean to brag but I finished my fourteen-day diet food in three hours and twelve minutes.” Here’s some Aging 'Ahas': “I finally figured out what I want to be when I get older. Younger.” “Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils.” “The biggest lie I tell myself is, ‘I don't need to write that down. I'll remember it.’” “The first 50 years of childhood are always the hardest.” Now for some illuminating life-lifting 'Ahas.' “Friends come and go like waves on the ocean, but the true friends stay, like an octopus on your face.” “Holding a grudge is letting someone live rent-free in your head.” “If you never heal from what hurt you, you will bleed on people who didn't cut you.” “Two things define you. Your patience when you have nothing, and your attitude when you have everything.” “Be careful how you are talking to yourself because you’re listening.” “Don't look back, you're not going that way.” “It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it.” “Spending today complaining about yesterday, won't make tomorrow any better.” “I walked away because you were busy finding faults in me, while I was busy overlooking yours.” “Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.” Here are 'Ahas' about Noah. “Sometimes faith will make you look stupid…until it starts to rain.” “Noah was the wisest man that ever lived because he floated his stock when the rest of the world was going into liquidation.” My last 'Aha!': “If you think you've blown God's plan for your life, God has news for you...’YOU'RE NOT THAT POWERFUL.’” God will always leave the door open for you. Just turn or return. Aha!! Ed Delph October 1, 2018 CCC
