It seems to me that some of the Democrats are throwing their hat in the ring for president because - even as Democrats - they don’t see anyone that can win. Every one of them is a loser, so they might just have a chance.
On the other hand, I am not confident in the American people. Several generations of indoctrination and a government that long ago took its eye off the ball have resulted in a people with no goal. We have Hosea, Job, and Proverbs to tell us that God’s people perish for lack of knowledge, and that where there is no vision, the people perish.
Our entire culture, including our government, has long ago embarked on a mission to persecute God’s people. Everyone would deny that because it is not evident on the surface. But it is a fact nonetheless. This is no surprise. America as a nation long ago abandoned God in terms of being a valid part of our underpinnings. As a result, we have become a nation lost in the wilderness, a people without any defining means of progress. So we meander about looking for anything to hold on to.
In the process, persecuting the Christian faith is unavoidable because God requires justice that cannot be accomplished without His mighty arm. God has given to every man a measure of faith. Like it or not, the spirit of a man knows the truth and to escape that indwelling knowledge of truth requires ever-increasing rebellion in an effort to hide from that faith. Unable to get free, there remains only the ever-increasing rebellion against the only truth that can set man free from his own evil desires: Salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. So the battle grows stronger.
God’s chosen people, Israel, is the only nation that was, was not, and then was again. The existence of the nation of Israel is a profound demonstration that God is. But America is not God’s earthly nation, and I do not have much confidence that America will be revived as a nation. We may have revivals that lead to tens of thousands of new births, which would be wonderful. But a revival of some people won't necessarily lead to the revival of the nation. And I am okay with that. If I believe that we are in the latter days, as I do, my expectation is that the saints will be tried in fire. But we will keep looking up, for our redemption is near. It should be interesting to Christians that nearly all prophecies regarding the latter days are negative. The world is going to earn the destruction that it has fought so hard to gain.
National politics can be spiritually debilitating because we have become a nation of the flesh, and that is a headache to our spirit. But there is one thing that I would choose as we wander in this wilderness, and that is for this nation to continue to bless Israel. Our command is to pray for the peace of Israel and the Bible says that if we bless Israel, He will bless us. I suppose that America will ultimately abandon Israel as we go deeper into the last days. Just as God destroyed every people that stood against Israel as the promised land was being conquered, so will the world see the destruction of those who stand against Israel today.
And all these Democrats hate Israel.
