Last Fall, I wrote several commentaries suggesting that short of an appearance in an orange jumpsuit, I thought Hillary was itching for a rematch with President Trump. Given the charges and counter-charges being flung around by the candidates and other Democratic leaders, it looks like the one thing former President Obama was concerned about during the campaign is happening. In April of this year, USA Today ran a story about a circular firing squad in the Democratic Party.
The Washington Post reported in a May 2017 warning to Democrats, “The left should stop calling people ‘racist’ or ‘homophobic’,” a knee-jerk response when people disagreed with them. Let me show you how bad the infighting has become: PJ Media.com raised this question in a recent headline, “Did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Just Call Nancy Pelosi a Racist?” In some respects, it is difficult for me to understand why the firing squads are out so early. We only have had one debate so far, yet the attacks are vicious.
When I first wrote about the possibility that Hillary may be the candidate of the left, I said that the Democratic Party had positioned itself as the party of victims. I also said the reason that I thought she would get the 2020 nomination was because she was the greatest victim. Yes, the Russians stole the election for Donald Trump, but Hillary was the victim. As far back as 2012, Gregory Kane, of the Washington Examiner, wrote an opinion titled the Party of Victims. Since then, many articles have been written on the Democratic Party and the role of minorities as victims. This evolution as to the makeup of the Democratic Party has grown from blacks to Hispanics, the LGBT community, and to the latest, illegal immigrants.
This past week, Hillary was on the stump talking about these latest victims of the party, the illegal immigrants. She was holding a rally in her hometown with Bill in what she said was one of over 750 other rallies in support of illegal immigrants going on throughout the world. The American Mirror.com ran an article titled, “Hillary talks like a candidate at NY immigration protest.”
I do not doubt that she is watching the disintegration of the candidates as they start taking shots at each other; each hoping to stake out an opinion before some other candidate steals the spotlight. At the same time, each also is trying to reduce the number of candidates in the race. Ask yourself these questions: if no candidate has enough votes to win the nomination on the first ballot, will we then have an open Democratic convention? If the party is so fractured as to prevent any established candidate from winning the delegates after several ballots, will the delegates in an effort to win the nomination look to draft someone who will appeal to a majority of the delegates,? As I said before, short of wearing an orange jumpsuit, Hillary will volunteer to be that candidate, the victim who will appeal to all sides of the party.
Nobody will like her, but then again nobody will hate her enough to vote for someone else. Hillary could be the compromise candidate. What I think is fascinating about this idea is that I believe whomever the Democratic candidate may be, the outcome will be much like Mondale vs. Reagan. I also think there are some Democrats that would like her to run and become a three-time loser. A crushing third defeat in a landslide loss to Donald Trump would be the end of Bill and Hillary and perhaps the Democratic Party as we have known it for a long time. She may well be given a chance to try and redeem herself, but I believe the defeat will be so great that no one will be able to blame the Russians for her defeat. Hillary’s loss may be so devastating that the left destroys the Democratic Party.
As stated above, the orange jumpsuit will not only be the end of the Clintons but, depending on her plea bargain, it might also include former President Obama. Recently, Joe Biden said there was no corruption on the Obama/Biden watch. Long before the Democratic convention next summer, plenty of questions will be raised and answered about the integrity of President Obama and his administration. These classic questions will arise: When did he know and what did he do? I believe there will be many indictments presented, and some in very high places, perhaps to both the former Secretary of State and the former President. They just might show how corrupt the Obama/Biden administration was and how nothing was done to stop the corruption.
A Perkins Twist: In the subsequent debates and on the campaign trail, look for vicious attacks of Democrat against Democrat to increase. If it serves a candidate’s purpose, look for some arrow shots at the former President.
