God's Love

December 21, 2020

Christmas is ultimately a celebration of God's love.
The Bible says God loves us. Indeed, "God is love."
It is a mystery - the ultimate mystery of life and love.

Jesus said, "For God loved the world so much that He sent His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life."

What could He possibly mean by that?

The apostle John who recorded these words has been called "the apostle of love," for he seems to have a special connection with the love that was found in His Lord and Master. He wrote his memories and thoughts accounting Jesus' life in a different manner from the other New Testament writers. In the first letter ascribed to him to other followers, he shares that "God is love," and "We love because He first loved us." (1 John 4) In the same passage, he  conveys that "there is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love."

As one of the early followers of Jesus, John had seen the very Son of God sharing God's love with the world, with those around them. He was a close witness to the love of God alive as a person - Jesus. I am sure as the days and weeks passed, up to the time of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, there was a growing realization that this was absolutely unique, that they were witnesses to the miraculous expression of supernatural and spiritual reality being manifest in the life of Jesus before them.

As the little picture with this article says, God loves you...more than you can ever fully know.

God loves you no matter what. It doesn't matter what you have done, you cannot make Him love you more, or less, by what you do. It is because God is Love. He just loves you. You don't have to earn it, and you cannot make Him love you less by anything you have done.

If God seems far away from you, it is not because He moved. And no matter how far from God you feel you are, He is only a breath away from you at all times.

It is God who has made us and provides all we need for life. Science cannot explain life or love, as much as they would try. Life and love are found in God.

It has been said that those who put everything in God's hands, will soon see God's hand in everything. God's love is the meaning of life itself.

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is a miracle." Albert Einstein

This Christmas season, take some time to quiet your heart and soul, and get in touch with the love that God has for you. And share it with others.

God bless you richly, and Merry Christmas.

My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
