Is Vladimir Putin starting World War 3?

Throughout history, armies have stomped across the east European area known as Ukraine. The most recent offender was the NAZI leader Adolph Hitler, when he attacked his former ally, the Russian Soviet Union, 80 years ago. For three and a half years, the two massive armies fought in Ukraine, before Russia pushed the NAZI army back to Germany. Now, it looks like we are going to see a repeat of that history, with Russia heading east, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin.

2014 saw Russia seize the Crimea Peninsula from Ukraine, which provides Russia with a warm water naval facility on the Black Sea. Putin is claiming self-defense, from hostile actions by the country of Ukraine. This claim is ridiculous and would be laughable if the situation wasn’t so dangerous. Ukraine has a small standing army that lacks the capability of making a threat to Russia. 

Putin, a former KGB officer of the former Soviet Union, wants to reconstruct the old Soviet Union. Russian troops are moving into two provinces of Ukraine that border Russia, claiming they are protecting ethnic Russians. This is the exact same excuse Hitler used, of protecting ethnic Germans when he seized Czechoslovakia. 

The response by other countries runs the gamut of doing absolutely nothing to lukewarm threats. At the beginning of World War 2, Hitler had met the same response when Germany seized Czechoslovakia. Emboldened, Hitler attacked Poland which triggered the mutual defense treaties Poland had with other countries, starting World War 2. If he succeeds in this latest land grab, he will be emboldened to seize the whole of Ukraine; then he could go after other neighboring countries.

Putin sees no threat from the United States President Joe Biden. Putin is playing three-dimensional Chess while Biden is trying to play tiddly-winks. There is no contest. On 2 Feb 2022 Joe Biden stated in his speech, that U.S. troops are being moved for defensive purposes. Then he said U.S. troops would not fight Russia, and with this comment he threw away a negotiating position, telling Putin the U.S. troops are not a threat. 

Now Putin knows he can do whatever he wants, so we are looking at what may be the opening moves of World War 3. China is also poised to move whenever they desire, to attack Taiwan and probably Japan. We are in a mess. Canada has become a dictatorship, China is waiting to jump, and Putin is on the attack. And we have Dementia Joe Biden and Clueless Kamala Harris in the White House, what else could possibly go wrong?
