Democracy Dies In Darkness, And In The January 6 Hearings

While the American people deal with hardship, inflation, and uncertainty about the future, Democrats waste time and taxpayer money on their reckless and vengeful pursuit of former President Trump. 

There are a number of subjects that can be considered important enough to offer up for your consideration here, something informative and worth your taking the time to read. But I am going to defer from that this time. The subject of this writing, as far as I’m concerned, is not that important, but must be discussed.

Now there are many people, on both sides of the political and ideological spectrum, who would disagree, and think the importance of this issue is tantamount to the very idea and the essence of democracy itself. But I believe their reasons have nothing to do with the truth and facts, and more to do with emotion and a need, in their minds, to take revenge and change the course of history.

On January 06, 2021, then President Donald Trump held a rally on the national mall in Washington D.C. According to some estimates, this gathering drew several hundred thousand people. They had gathered at the behest of the former president to protest the outcome of the November 2020 presidential election. It was Mr. Trump’s contention the “election was stolen,” and that there was voter fraud and his defeat was the result of nefarious schemes and underhanded practices by Democrats and their operatives. By now most of us know the details of this matter and the events of that day. We’ve seen the countless videos and reports in the media of a mob storming the Capital building and clashes with the police. 

For the past year and a half, the committee that was chosen and appointed by the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and that was composed of all Democrats and two Republicans, all with deep festering anger and bitterness toward former President Trump has been gathering information and interviewing witnesses. Republican defenders of the former president were intentionally and unapologetically left off the committee, and were advised by the Speaker they could not serve.

On Thursday, June 09, the committee’s investigation came to an end, for now, and its findings were revealed on prime time TV, covered by all network and cable channels, with the exception of FOX.  After watching the first episode of what was, in fact, the activities of a Banana-like Republic, despotically ruled over by two demagogues, I will admit there were some surprises, but there is one thing in particular that was proven, the depths of the hate and desperation of Democrats. 

This partisan-driven and deliberate attempt to destroy the former president was pathological and one-sided, and devoid of any counterdefense. Every word and sentence had implications of Trumps guilt, as they saw it; there was no objectivity at all, only witnesses for the prosecution. There was no mention made of the only killing on that day of an innocent Ashley Babbitt by a capital police officer, who has never been brought to atone. This is to be expected, as Democrats and their media enablers, need something, anything, to change the subject from the ills and incompetence of the Biden administration.

On the following Sunday, most talk shows on network and cable channels were devoted to January 6 and the first committee hearing, with scant mention of the economy, prices at the gas pump and on store shelves. There was nothing about an attempt on the life of a Supreme Court justice, fire bombings of prolife pregnancy centers, and the ever worsening crisis at the southern border, and another approaching caravan of migrants numbering in the thousands. The next meeting was held on Monday, June 13, and the same narrative was further emboldened against the former president. There were no hearings on June 14 and 15.

On Thursday, June 16 another committee hearing was held, and focus was on former Vice President Mike Pence and his constitutional duties to certify the state’s presidential electoral votes, and that he did not have the unilateral authority to undermine the votes, and determine the winner. It was the contention of former President Trump and his lawyers Mr. Pence could in fact set aside the states' provisions and name the former president as the winner of the election.

Democrats are not fooling anyone, except the gullible and ignorant who will believe anything out of the mouths of Trump haters, whether politically or media driven. What comes to mind is that this entire event, thus far, is nothing more than a Democrat campaign ad, and a thinly-veiled partisan exercise in political theater. This entire political and media circus, with its ringmasters and assorted acts with its clowns and performance artists, are walking a tightrope until they all fall down.
