Biden To The Military: Shoot It Down. Military To Biden: No

President Joe Biden told the American people shortly after the U.S. military shot down a Chinese spy balloon that he gave the order to shoot it down on the previous Wednesday but that the military officials waited until Saturday to do so. If I were the President and that would have happened, I would have given them a new order, “You’re fired!”

"I ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down on Wednesday, as soon as possible," Biden told reporters on Saturday. The military decided that to avoid doing any damage to people on the ground, the best time to do it was when it got over water within a 12-mile limit.  By the time we shot it down who knows what information the Chinese had gained?

Let’s step back for a moment and look at some very important information. First is the oath of office for the President. The oath is specified in Article II, Section One, Clause 8, of the United States Constitution. It says, "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Second, looking at Article II of the U.S. Constitution expressly designates the President as Commander in Chief of all the branches of the military. Every officer of every branch takes an oath that in part says, “I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States. 

Third, we need to look at the recent events and the actions of the leadership of the military and their disagreement with President Biden on the execution of his order. We do not know when the President was first told of the Chines balloon incursion into American air space, nor do we know how long it took for the President to make the decision to take it down. It seems to me that it wouldn’t take days to scramble for one jet fighter to go out and attack a balloon. I am very concerned that agencies and departments of the government are making decisions regardless of their responsibility to defer to the president.

When Donald Trump was President, the Wall Street Journal reported on February 16, 2017, that Intelligence officials were withholding national security information from Trump. They did so because they decided they couldn’t trust Trump with classified information. U.S. intelligence officials have withheld sensitive intelligence from President Donald Trump because they are concerned it could be leaked or compromised, according to current and former officials familiar with the matter. [...]In some of these cases of withheld information, officials have decided not to show Mr. Trump the sources and methods that the intelligence agencies use to collect information, the current and former officials said. Those sources and methods could include, for instance, the means that an agency uses to spy on a foreign government. In the recent case of the shooting down of the Chinese spy balloon, people from the National Security Agency and the Defense Department decided they knew better than Biden as to when to take out the target. While that statement might be true, they can’t override the President and his decisions.

One must question if the deep state has even more power than we thought and that they will do what they want when they want. When non-elected people are making policy decisions that concern national security we are in trouble as a nation.
