Leaders Who Hate You

While reading the Old Testament I found these encouraging words: “If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.” (Lev. 26:3-5)

God was talking to Israel (and really, to all nations). In simple terms He was saying that if a nation keeps His commandments, He will bless them. Then later in the same chapter we find this:

“But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and sap your strength. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it. I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you.” (Lev. 26:14-17)

I have never heard anyone, even their most ardent sycophants, describe Obama, Biden, Pelosi or Reid as people who love America. But just because one does not love our country, does it automatically follow that they hate the U.S.? Not necessarily.

But if we examine their actions and statements, I think an accurate assessment can be made that these “leaders” actually do hate the nation which they supposedly serve. Consider this: If an individual (or a group of individuals) regularly and intentionally harms another, is it not reasonable to assume that their motive is hatred? The Bible makes that case.

Let’s go back to Leviticus. Has our nation rejected and despised the laws of God? Does it not embrace the “right” of women to kill their unborn children simply because they were too irresponsible to use readily available birth control? Is not our country rushing to the precipice by encouraging the abominable act that is called homosexual “marriage?” Have we not become a nation ruled by powerful elites who do not have mercy on the weak and unfortunate?

Yes, I will agree with you that these sins were being committed before the current despot seized the reins of government. But who is leading the nation in its rejection of God’s decrees and its abhorrence of His laws today?

Barack Obama and his core of conscience-devoid advisors are together the most bloodthirsty administration in U.S. history.  They have encouraged abortions and illegally diverted taxes to pay for them. In predictable sync with his customary strong-arm tactics, they’ve exported their apathetic viewpoint of abortion to the world, exacting pressure on Americans to fund the very bloody practice they abhor. Even worse, they have spared no effort to force religious institutions to participate in their malevolence against their tenets, their consciences and the sacred Word of God.

This president has declared early and often his strong support for not only homosexuals and lesbians – but also for bi-sexual and “transgender individuals.” The only perversions that have not received his open support – as yet – are bestiality and pedophilia. But I ask you: Once we have destroyed the foundation of marriage – the God-ordained law that is between one man and one woman – we have not just allowed two men or two women to marry. We have opened the door to “unions” between several people, or between a human and an animal…or between a man and a child.

And what of the destruction of the families and lives of the poor and defenseless in the name of charity? Liberals delight in characterizing their motives as compassion and love. But where is the compassion in devastating families by forcing the husband to move out so that the wife can receive welfare payments? What twisted form of love would force whole generations to endure the indignity and despair of the welfare system in exchange for a small handout?

Again, none of these – or the dozens of other national sins not recounted here – is unique to this latest generation of faithless leaders. But what is unique is the degree of the contempt – and yes, the hatred – they demonstrate daily to the nation they purport to serve.

“But I have never heard Obama, Biden, Pelosi or Reid say that they hate America.” Nor have I. I am making the case that they are venal – not that they are stupid.

They will never say that they hate America, or that they despise patriotism, or that they believe that God has no place in public life. Obama will continue to pay lip service to a God he does not know by adding “God bless the United States of America” as a tag to his guileful speeches. Just because they do not articulate their deeply held beliefs does not mean that they don’t hold them.

The Bible makes it clear that only God can look into man’s heart. But it tells us that we can know men by their fruit. Can an apple tree produce oranges? No more can leaders who despise the people disguise their actions – if the people care enough to peer deeper than the just the surface.

Let me close by mentioning some of the consequences of defying God which are listed in Leviticus. In addition to allowing leaders who hate nation to rule over it, we are promised:

Are you aware that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has stated that it is the duty of voters to elect Christians who will follow the laws of God to public office? No, it was not one of the current Chief Justice; that would be politically incorrect. It was John Jay, the very first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, who said, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”

We have strayed far from that admonition. I have even heard politically correct Christians state that we should not make faithfulness to the Bible a “litmus test” in deciding for whom to vote. But what if we had? Would we have a Barack Obama leading the nation down the path to destruction? I think the answer is more than obvious.
