The National Day of Mourning and Repentance for Abortion

Early Sunday morning I sent this important message to all the many pastors I know, hoping they would see it before their Sunday services. I am sending it now to all of you with the same request: Spread the word however you can.

Dear Pastor, 

I know this is last minute, but I just became aware of this. Please read the attached short flyer to your congregation this morning. More information can be found at www.DayOfMourning.com.

Obviously, most of us cannot attend the event next Saturday in New York. But all Christians can participate in The National Day of Mourning and Repentance for Abortion on Feb. 23rd. We should all mourn for the 63 million babies who have perished in what should be the safest place in the world - their mothers' wombs. We should also repent as a nation for the scourge of abortion that has ended the lives of so many babies against both God's law and the Constitution.

I hope you will spread this is in whatever way you can - through telling your congregation, through email, and through social media. This is very real. I have checked this out thoroughly. Elizabeth Johnston, one of the organizers, was interviewed on this subject yesterday on national TV. The Property Brothers (twin brothers named Benham who lost their national TC program because of their stance on abortion) will speak, as well as many other prominent Christians. And Blythe Mullen, the eight-year-old girl pictured above who was saved from abortion will share her important story.

Here is the short flyer I asked the pastors to read to their congregations, and which I hope to you spread far and wide:

The state of New York just voted to expand abortion access right up to the birth of the baby! To celebrate this unbelievable depravity they lit the One World Trade Center in pink! Women used to celebrate motherhood and find joy in their children. Today, in places like New York City, they are taking joy in destroying their children. The state of New York has crossed a line of inhumanity that should drive us to our knees. Forty-six years of the state-sanctioned killing of our most helpless and defenseless children should cause us to weep, to mourn, and to take action. What is to be thought of a society that kills her own children? What will the future be of such a heartless society that celebrates such barbaric inhumanity?

“If the foundations be destroyed what shall the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) We are calling for a National Day of Mourning and Repentance. We are in desperate need for God to move upon the hearts of young and old in our nation. If our hearts do not break over the killing of these little image bearers of God in the womb, then how can we expect those growing up in this lost, confused and decadent culture to take our message seriously? Join us February 23rd for a "Day of Mourning.”

Suggestions to commemorate this day:

• Please Wear Black next Saturday
• Don't shop
• Close your business for the day
• Repent for abortion in our nation

The purpose of refraining from shopping and closing your business for one day is to deny the government the tax revenue for this one day. Our government, in violation of the Constitution and in violation of laws passed by Congress uses our taxes to:

• Pay for abortions of American children
• Export abortion throughout the world
• Pay for abortions of foreign babies
• In some cases, finance forced sterilizations
