How the Enthusiasm Gap Will Push Trump Over the Top

How would you like to be elected President, not because almost half of those who voted for you respected or liked you - but because they hated your opponent? That will be the reality Joe Biden will face if he is elected. Only 57% of the people who plan to vote for him will do so because they think he is the man for the job. 41% will cast their votes not for Biden, but against President Trump. My guess is that he woouldn't mind. He has been running for President for 47 years, and I doubt he cares how he gets there.

Donald Trump won't have that problem. As you can see from the poll above, 80% of President Trump's supporters love him and would fight through a blizzard to vote for him. Only 18% of them say their vote will actually be because they despise Socialist Biden. Never in American history has a President earned such love and support from Patriotic Americans. No Presidents has ever drawn crowds in the tens of thousands, no matter what the weather or how many hours they have to wait to see him.

The "enthusiasm gap" between Biden and Trump is not new. Since Biden received his party's nomination there have been dozens of polls of all kinds. The most telling of these has been the number of Democrats who say they will vote for Biden - but are not enthusiastic about doing so; and the Trump voters who exprss incredible enthusiasm that I have never seen in all the many presidentail campaigns I have observed and studied.

Why would Democrats vote for a man they don't particularly like or respect? Many are still upset about the way the Democrat National Committee (DNC) cheated on behalf of Biden. Most observers feel that if they had not tipped the scales in Biden's favor, Sanders would have been the nominee. But the party bosses decided that the couldn't take a chance on a man who described himfelsf as a "Democratic Socialist." So they made a man they knew they could control the nominee.

Other Democrats actually like Biden. When he's not cursing at constituents in town hall meetings, or making unwanted advances on young girls, he seems fairly likeable. But they want someone who will stand up for their principles, warped as they may be. They see what we all see - a weak, tired candidate whose decline in mental acuity has increased with the stress of the campaign. That's why they kept him in his basement until they absolutely had to let him out to make a few personal appearances.

Let's think about this. Almost half of Biden voters are not enthusiastic about voting for him. Trump voters would walk on broken glass through a hailstorm to vote for him. I find myself guiltily fantacizing about really bad weather all across the nation. Trump supporters have stoofd in line for hours on end in all kinds of weather jsut to hear him speak. I can't hink of anything less than a tornado that would keep them from going out to vote for him.

I can see people who planned to vote for Biden, on the other hand, who would wake up to a slight drizzle on Election Day, roll over, and go back to sleep.

All of which reminds me of a singing group named "Pray for Rain."
