Have We Gotten to the Bottom Yet?

The short answer is no.

A big New York "fugedaboutit!"

It was a touching scene at Ground Zero the other day as they officially shut down the search and cleanup operation after the loss of thousands of lives and more commercial real estate space than you can find in many mid-sized cities. The victims and their loved ones deserved some kind of closure at the scene of the crime - but from the looks on their faces it was not yet all over for them - the most violated ones.

If anybody has the idea the matter is settled they are much deluded. This crime of the millennium is not yet solved. Bin Laden is still sneaking about in hiding, or if he’s dead he hasn’t given us the satisfaction of knowing it yet. Arafat is still mugging for the all-too-eager news cameras, unpunished. Our troops still troop back and forth in Afghanistan and Pakistan and are establishing tentative beachheads in a half-dozen other locations around a globe now irreversibly contaminated by a "religion" that wants all other religions exterminated. Think about that for a moment; their book says we Jews and Christians have go to go, be wiped out!

Is it over? Ha, and double ha!

According to Newsmax.com, "One of the nation’s former top FBI agents, the same man Rush Limbaugh called ‘one brave former FBI Agent’ Gary Aldrich, now warns that future terrorist attacks against America are all but certain." I fear we have not quite gotten that into our heads yet. Our thick skulls resist that unthinkable thought. Please, God, no more!

The economy has come back, the stock market is showing signs of new life, and all that lulls us into a sense of security where there is no security. It’d be great if all we had to do is decide what to build in that big hole - another twin towers, a park or national monument, or a mosque. India and Pakistan prepare for the First Nuclear War and we perseverate in our press over what "W" knew and did not know before 911. The short answer, is he knew as precious little as the rest of us; now we’re all wiser (except the press).

In this issue of Home Times on Page 4, I have elected to run a unique story by Ron Brackin that’s very well done and can’t be ignored. Brackin is a mighty fine journalist amidst many mediocres in the profession, and a Christian who loves the Jews. He has "been there, done that" in all areas of the Mid-East war zone. He has found out that the real focal point of Our Nation’s Problems is there, not in that cleared vacant lot in mid-Manhattan.

He went there and wandered about to try to get a true perspective to feed to us through Assist News Service. ANS (assist-ministries.com) reports from all corners of the globe on a lot of things the regular press doesn’t even want to discuss or bother with. They give us some great "virtual exclusives" like this article. (That’s the backbone of our "Good Little Newspaper for God & Country," and Conservativetruth.org where I now write a weekly column.)

I don’t entirely agree with all of Brackin’s story. Hah, listen to me, I’ve never even been there — or in any war zone ever! I served my country for a couple of years in the Army, even got up one night at 2 a.m. and got ready to hit the beaches of Cuba ... but it never happened. "Yeah, let’s go clean up that island. It’ll take us a week, two at the most," I said out loud. This war we are now in - yes, Virginia, there is a WAR in capital letters - will take my and your lifetime to win. You’d better sign up, soldier!

Brackin passes off Zionism as just a "secular ideology"; I believe it is more than that. It is a human political movement, true, but I believe God inspired it. It was His call to the scattered Jews to get back to their roots, get back before they disappear from the face of the earth - something God will never allow. The Islamic radicals who want to eradicate Israel and push it into the sea are misguided - and doomed to failure. Read your Torah, folks!

It’s great that Brackin comes back to us with a sympathetic view for all of those who suffer over there in this war, including Palestinian children and families in Bethlehem. War I am told is hell, though as I said I haven’t been there — yet. Bethlehem kids, like the ones who ride their bikes up and down your own block, and their mothers and fathers, peace-loving folks just like you and me, were shut up in there homes for weeks on end, unable to go to school or the food store, afraid and starving.

Like Brackin, we embrace our fellow human beings in Palestine. We pray they will wake up and shake off their Hitler-like leaders. We embrace our Muslim neighbors here and pray they will repudiate the kill-all-the-Christians-and-Jews agenda that has the world teetering on the brink!

But I object — there’s a war going on! We Americans are having a hard time realizing that! Israeli soldiers were there combing the city for terrorists who were bombing their citizens to death, blasting their limbs from their bodies, spilling their blood in the shopping centers and restaurants. Oh how we Americans love our malls and fine eateries! Would we demand action if they killed us in there?

The Jews now have a homeland, and have to pay with their blood to keep it. The Book says God will revisit them there, their Messiah will come to rescue them. I’d hate to be a Muslim when that happens! We have a precious land of liberty here too — and have had to pay with our blood many times to keep it and will go on paying till the Lord comes back. I hope and believe God will revisit us here in America also. He is pruning the trees - in Israel and in America - so that we will bear more fruit and be ready for the harvest!

How do I know all that? I, too, have read the Book - it’s not over yet - but in the end we win!
